How Americans live without a shower with a soft hose

America is a highly civilized country, developed and providing comfortable living conditions for its citizens. But some features of American life make our compatriots wonder how they can live comfortably here. I also asked myself this question when I began to study the oddities of American life. Even the smallest details can vary significantly between our countries. What is good for an American is completely incomprehensible and inconvenient for a Russian. One of these inconveniences is the American shower.

Features of the shower in America

The first inconvenience that a European or Russian who comes to the United States faces is the shower. Everything here is very uncomfortable and devoid of comfort. The plumbing in this country is really poor, so it's best to prepare for the worst.

We can highlight several features of a standard shower in America:

  • regulation of temperature and pressure (in most bathrooms in the USA there is one small lever that simultaneously regulates both the pressure and temperature of the water flow; a person will not be able to take a hot shower without splashing a lot of splashes around him);
  • stationary shower (a short, rigidly fixed “flyer” that sticks out of the wall and is absolutely motionless; such a shower arrangement results in a person receiving a stream of stagnant water directly in the face immediately after turning it on);
  • lack of a soft hose (in American plumbing there is no concept of an elongated flexible hose on which a shower head is attached; in order to get a familiar shower, a guest of the country will have to worry about replacing the plumbing with a European model).

Important! In the bathrooms of most American homes there are many things that are unusual for us. Plumbing especially attracts the views and dissatisfaction of visiting citizens.

In addition, the bathtub is usually equipped with a small faucet with a button. Using this button you can close the drain hole and fill the bath with water. But often the button simply becomes loose, preventing the bath from being filled, constantly missing water into the pipe.

How to do without an extended soft hose?

The lack of a soft hose that allows you to pick up the diffuser and apply it in close proximity to the body while showering is completely absent in American showers. To get such a device, Russians or Europeans have to change the plumbing in the shower, having first purchased such a hose.

It is noteworthy that the Americans themselves do not suffer from the lack of such an important detail in the bathroom. They are used to showering frequently and do not see this as a problem. Russians are accustomed to using a bidet or a soft shower hose after visiting the toilet, for example. Not having it in the bathroom is a real problem.

To wash off dirt from yourself, you will have to wash yourself in the shower completely, including your head. This is very inconvenient when you need to take a quick shower and go about your business again. In this case, to give your hair the proper look, you will have to use a hair dryer and other devices.

Important! The lack of a soft hose can be compensated for by installing a bidet in the bathroom. But this is not available to everyone.In some bathrooms, a large amount of plumbing simply will not fit.

Among other things, bidets and other devices did not take root in America. They are not popular and are extremely rarely used in interiors. Usually they are installed on an individual order, which is very expensive.

Other oddities of the American bathroom

Another feature of the bathroom in the USA is the separate position of the bathtub and shower. In many homes, the bathtub is located in a secluded corner or in the middle of the room, depending on the style of the interior, and only a small tap can be found in it to fill the bathtub with water.

How to do without a soft hose in the shower?

In one of the corners there is a shower stall with a stationary shower. Both objects are located at a decent distance from each other, and there is no way to move from the bath to the shower and back without compromising the cleanliness of the room. That is, a person, after sitting in a foam bath, will get a fair amount of damage if he decides to go into the shower to wash off the soap.

Also in the bathroom there is usually a toilet. This item is a unique item. In America, toilets are usually half full of water, and it always seems like it's about to overflow. In addition, the toilets make a terrible noise when water is flushed into them.

I can say for sure that a Russian person will be very uncomfortable in a classic American bathroom. Even such a seemingly unimportant detail as a door that opens into a room can significantly complicate the life of a person from Russia in America.
