What are the main parts of a shower cabin?

In recent years, showers have become extremely popular. Moreover, they are installed not only in apartments, but also in private houses. Before purchasing and installing a shower cabin with your own hands, you need to understand what it consists of. What types of booths are there?

Shower cabins come in two types:

There are significant differences between them.

Open

The open cabin consists of the following elements:

• pallet;
• vertical racks;
• guides for glass doors;
• back wall - most often it is made in the shape of a semicircle;
• a set of fixed side blocks;
• doors - there can be 2 swing doors or one sliding door.

Open stalls are always installed in the corner of the bathroom. Therefore, they have the second name “angular”.

Closed

A closed shower stall includes not only all of the above elements, but also several additional ones. These include:

• dome - this may include a special lamp for lighting the booth, ventilation, etc.;
• control panel - a set of additional nozzles and a control unit;
• steam generator;
• shower rod, watering can, hose, mirror, set of handrails, some models can be equipped with a special seat.

Let's take a closer look at each element that makes up the shower.

Pallet

This element always comes in a set with a frame, additional fittings and a set of other elements. This is where the assembly of the shower begins. Some manufacturers can supply a ready-made pallet, i.e. assembled and with a drainage device. This allows you to save time when assembling the booth.

Siphon

There are several types of siphons:

• for low and high pallet;
• universal siphon - it is suitable for absolutely any booth;
• semi-automatic

The main function that the siphon performs is to create a seal. It prevents unpleasant odors from entering the house. After the siphon is installed, the hole in it is closed with a metal grill. In more modern models, a special Click-Clack system is built into it. When lightly pressed, the valve lowers and rises as needed.

Dome

The front side of the dome is decorated with overlays and a lamp. A fan is installed on the outside. It performs the following functions:

• convection;
• distribution of warm air - more modern models have a “Turkish bath” function;
• ventilating the cabin after the water has already been turned off.

There is a rain shower in the center of the dome. To assemble it, use a fitting with a nut. The top watering can be mounted directly into the dome or through a panel with LEDs.

Shower walls

The walls can be made of various materials. Most often it is glass or plastic. All holes for attaching additional accessories are already cut by the manufacturer.

The following elements are most often attached to the back wall:

• mirror;
• shelves for soap, shampoos and other accessories;
• shower bracket;
• separate rod for installing a soap dish;
• handrail

The back wall can be disassembled or already ready for installation. In most cases, it is presented in the shape of a semicircle and is equipped with:

• mixer;
• backlight;
• water hoses.

The hoses are made of reinforced PVC. This material is resistant to deformation and can withstand pressure up to 8 bar.

Cabin glass

Glass can be fixed, hinged or sliding. To securely fix the glass, silicone seals are used. The fixed glass is fixed using a holder. After this, the following are mounted on the glass doors:

• plastic seals;
• moldings;
• pen.

Rollers are mounted on swing or sliding doors. They ensure smooth and free movement of doors.

Important! It is the rollers that most often fail among all the elements and parts of the shower stall. The causes of breakdowns can be different: from improper installation and mechanical wear to high water hardness.

For each specific cabin model, it is necessary to select certain rollers. When choosing this element, pay attention to the following aspects:

• roller diameter;
• landing;
• appearance.

Center console - three main elements

The following elements are installed on the center console, which play a very important role in the performance of the shower:

Mixer

This is a prefabricated structure that is connected to a water supply tube. It mixes cold and hot water, creating comfortable conditions for taking a shower. The hoses are connected to the mixer using threaded clamps. The design of the faucet must match the design of the handle and decorative trims.

Control Panel

It allows you to control all electronics. The connection is made via a power supply. There are several types of dashboards:

• on buttons;
• sensory;
• with and without display;
• with LED backlit buttons;
• with remote control.

Hydromassage

The system nozzles are mounted around the entire perimeter of the console. They are installed at different heights so that the water can massage the entire body. The top ones massage the shoulders and head, the central ones massage the back, etc.

The optimal arrangement of nozzles is 2 rows of 3-4 pieces. The nozzles themselves can be large, medium and large. They also differ in shape and type of jet. More modern models can rotate, which provides additional effect.

More expensive models are already equipped with a hydromassage function. Some options are equipped with LED backlighting. To ensure the effect of a Turkish bath, the cabin is equipped with a steam generator. Budget models do not have this equipment, and many consumers purchase all the necessary equipment later.
