What sizes are bidets, what to consider when choosing
For many, renovation is a real headache. And if you also have to install the plumbing yourself, then even more so. A lot of questions immediately arise, for example: “What should be the distance between the bidet and the toilet?” or: “What type of mount should I choose for the device?” However, you can figure all this out, the main thing is to arm yourself with information.

What are the bidet sizes?
If the area of the room allows, then installing an additional system is more than desirable. As a rule, the style and appearance of the bidet is determined by the already selected toilet, because these designs are inextricably linked, and, rather, act as one set. In addition, both wall-mounted and floor-standing models practically do not differ in size.
Typically, stores offer a fairly wide range of different products that meet any needs and budget. Therefore, in order to foresee all the agony of choice in advance, it is first better to measure the dimensions of the room and draw up a diagram of the furnishings. Only in this case will you roughly understand what sizes you are interested in, which means you won’t waste time and effort considering unsuitable devices.
The standard size range for a bidet most often falls into the following ranges (in millimeters):
- width – 350–435;
- height – 300–500;
- bowl depth – 400–650.
It is almost impossible to find other dimensions. Therefore, when planning, you need to build on this data.
In addition, the distance from the ablution device to the toilet is also considered important. It is generally accepted that the best length would be 25–30 cm. Moreover, placing them closer or further from each other is strongly not recommended. In the first case it will be very cramped and uncomfortable, and in the second it will be uncomfortable in the process.
Reference! If you would like to learn more about specific dimensional units and location cases, review GOST 26901-86, which contains information on technical specifications.
What to do in cases where the room does not allow the installation of such a number of structures? For small rooms there is also an excellent option - a bidet toilet. Such plumbing can be implemented in different ways. For example, special bidettes built into the bowl and pulled out when you press a special button or a seat with a shower faucet. Moreover, this system differs little from the size of conventional plumbing fixtures.
Things to consider before installing a bidet
In addition to the fact that the bidet must be located in close proximity to the toilet, there are several other requirements that you need to be aware of before installation and during planning. Firstly, it is necessary to take into account that for a comfortable ablution you will need not only cold, but also hot water. To do this, you should make sure that it is possible to connect the device both to the sewer system for drainage of liquid and to the water supply.
Secondly, the free distance in front of the bidet should be at least 70–100 cm (for a toilet – 60–80 cm). Otherwise, you will experience inconvenience and, most likely, even decide to dismantle it.
Thirdly, if you decide to purchase an electrical device, then you need to make sure that there is a suitable waterproof outlet nearby.
By the way, purchasing this option provides maximum comfort and is definitely worth the money. This adds extremely useful options to your use: systemic control of water and air temperatures, self-cleaning (the ability to use special tanks for a disinfectant solution or a disinfecting ultraviolet lamp), a hairdryer, heated seats, and others.
Remember: the main thing is that the equipment meets all your expectations and provides comfort. Therefore, you need to pay attention not only to the design solution and functionality, but also to such parameters as the size of the room and all structures planned for installation.
