The TV changes channels on its own without a remote control.
A woman contacted a repairman she knew, whose Samsung TV, one of the latest models, had taken on a life of its own - when turned on, the channels quickly flipped through the network, the sound spontaneously increased, then dropped to zero. Unplugging/plugging in the cord did not help. After half an hour, the device turned itself off and no longer responded to pressing the remote control buttons. And, according to the master, this is not an isolated case.
As practice shows, this problem arises for several reasons. Let's start with a simple one that everyone can solve on their own.
The content of the article
Reason one
If the TV has taken on a life of its own, then first of all you need to check the remote control for sticking one or more buttons. The contact is closed, a signal is constantly coming from the remote control, so the channels are switched, the volume or brightness of the picture is adjusted. It can occur as a result of liquid or grease getting on the panel, contamination or oxidation of contacts, mechanical damage, or wear and tear of the button membrane over time.
It’s easy to identify the cause - take the remote control out of the room or remove the batteries from it. If the problem is resolved, then open the remote control and carefully inspect the board and the buttons themselves. Pay special attention to the buttons you press most often (probably: “Power”, channel switching, volume). If there is no obvious mechanical “sticking” of the buttons, then wipe all contacts with alcohol.Or just buy a new remote.
IMPORTANT: You can check for a “stuck” or broken channel switch button by simply pressing the “˄» «˅» (up, down) and listening to clicks. If they are not in some button, then that is the reason.
The second reason is more serious; to eliminate it, you will have to disassemble the TV.
The second reason
This problem only occurs with mechanical buttons on the control unit of LCD devices. They can also “stick”, break, or their wire may fray. The problem manifests itself in different ways: being “floating” - appearing and disappearing after a while, turning on/off spontaneously, touching only certain modes, not responding to signals from a known working remote control.
As practice shows, this is a fairly common defect. It has many varieties - when you press volume up, the channels are switched or vice versa (control from the remote control without any comments), the device itself goes into standby mode and no longer responds to commands. The worst thing that can happen is entering the service menu, a change in which can lead to serious problems in the operation of the device.
To eliminate this nuisance, we place the TV on the screen, first remembering to place a blanket on the table, and remove the back cover. On the side or front (depending on the model) surface we see a block of buttons. We disconnect the cable from it. Now we try to control the TV using the remote control. If everything goes well, then the problem has been identified.
This can be considered troubleshooting - the TV works and is controlled normally. If you want to repair it completely, then first we call all the wires of the cable that connects the motherboard to the control board, all the components. We replace faulty parts and elements.
Now let's look at the reasons for the independent life of the TV, which you can only identify. To eliminate them, you need to have skills in working with a soldering iron, know the structure of a TV, and the basics of radio engineering. Therefore, further descriptions of the malfunction and solutions are provided for informational purposes only.
Reason three and the rest
So, you have disconnected the cable from the connector, but the problem has not been resolved - the TV continues to act outrageously. Unfortunately, the microprocessor is to blame. This block is not so easy to replace - due to the variety of models, it is difficult to find and expensive. You can try to “pull up” the voltage at the keyboard input. We apply a +5V limiting resistor through 100 Ohms. In this case, the TV keyboard is blocked, control remains only from the remote control.
Another option to solve the problem is to flash the ROM, because... The keyboard layout in many models is programmed. Or maybe such actions will not be necessary, it will be enough to reset the memory.
It is rare, but it happens that the reason for unauthorized switching of channels may be a short circuit of the processor output or wiring circuit to the housing. This may also be a consequence of such a short circuit. Of course, a person who is well acquainted with the basics of radio engineering and knows how to work with a soldering iron will be able to fix the problem. But it will be easier and cheaper to take the TV to a workshop.
REMINDER: If you try to save money and repair your TV yourself, you risk losing the device and causing harm to yourself and your loved ones. It will be much more expensive. Repairs must be carried out by a professional technician.
