The TV does not see the digital set-top box

Possible connection problems and solutions
Quite often, users try to pass the signal through the set-top box the old fashioned way - using an antenna cable. But this method only works with very old TVs, for which you buy a tuner with the corresponding input and output: the cable coming from the antenna is connected to the jack marked INPUT or IN. The same one, which is designed to transmit a signal to the TV, is inserted into the OUTPUT or OUT jack.
With more modern TV models that have a built-in AV connection module, this method will not work. Its presence is indicated by the presence of connectors:
- RCA - three sockets, painted yellow, white and red (for mono sound - only two: white and yellow-green);
- SCART - wide, with numerous sockets arranged in 2 rows;
- HDMI is a flat input-output characteristic of modern devices.
Sometimes a TV has several different types of sockets. In such a situation, it is necessary to study their labeling.There are frequent cases of attempts to connect using tulips to the RSA output of a TV, while a massive SCART comb is intended for the incoming signal, which is usually not included in the T2 tuner kit.
The general rule is this: what is connected to the OUTPUT jacks on the set-top box is connected to the INPUT jacks on the TV panel. And if the basic package does not have the necessary wires, you should simply purchase a SCART-RCA adapter (the tulips are connected to the set-top box, and the comb is connected to the TV). For owners of modern equipment with HDMI connectors, the above wisdom is redundant - the appropriate cable will allow you to get the highest quality image and sound. True, it also most often has to be purchased separately from the tuner.
Sometimes a TV has several “audio/video” channels, switching between which is done by pressing a button on the TV remote control with an arrow pointing inside the circle or rectangle. Before you panic, you need to check them all.
Another of the “starting” errors is attempts to use a non-powered-on console. If the green indicator on it does not light up, then it’s time to take the remote control from the tuner and press the round red button. If the T2 set-top box is correctly connected to the TV, this will lead to the appearance of the logo of its manufacturers on one of the AV channels.
What else could be the reason
The most common problem is antennas and cables. The first ones are a little easier: just make sure that the decimeter one is used (they are supplied without long elements, so they stand out in their compact sizes). Sometimes it is replaced with a Polish grid, in which case it is necessary to estimate the distance to the relay tower: if it is close, then the amplifier will need to be dismantled.
An important point is monitoring the position of the antenna. It always turns towards the repeater. Also, there should be no signal-screening obstacles between it and the tower.
The next stage is cable inspection. The easiest way to check the plug and connections: the central core should not come into contact with the shielding braid. If everything is in order there, you should use a tester or connect to a known working antenna to determine the integrity of the cable. Broken and burnt out will require replacement. Otherwise, you should contact a telemaster.
Hello Svetlana! The article states: “The general rule is this: what is connected to the OUTPUT jacks on the set-top box is connected to the INPUT jacks on the TV panel.”
Thank you very much, I understand! But in the console itself I just have the usual 3 slots (yellow, white and red) for the tulip, so I didn’t understand at the beginning. This means that my Telefunken set-top box does not see the TV, there is no image of the set-top box itself. I switched to the “arrow inside the square” button, connecting the tulips to the “input” TV in the white and yellow sockets and to the set-top box in the same sockets, the antenna to the set-top box and there was no reaction. I pressed the “arrow in a square” button (go to video) many times and nothing. Done many times in days. So I thought that I was doing everything wrong.Thank you very much for the article and the tip!!!
So where to connect the tulip set-top box in old TVs in INPUT OR OUTPUT? can not understand anything!
