How can you find out your TV model?
The first thing that comes to mind is to look at the document belonging to the device. This could be: a user manual, warranty card or instructions for use. The cover or first page contains the necessary information.
Clue! If you still have the original packaging, you can find information about the model number there too.
What to do if the papers have become lost? Turn the device with the back panel towards you and examine the nameplate. This is a factory label, it can be black with inscriptions in white or vice versa. If it is difficult to rotate the device, for example, is it hanging on the wall? Another option is to stick your hand behind the screen and take a photo with flash using your smartphone. Or check the device model by going to settings using the remote control.
Where to read the model on the factory sticker
At the very top of the nameplate, immediately after the name of the TV, near the inscription *Model* or *Model* there is a series of numbers and capital letters in Latin. For example: 32LN540V-ZA. Below you can see the serial number and which country the product was manufactured in with the exact address of the manufacturer.
How to find out the TV model in the settings
Companies that produce modern devices care about users. And they try not to hide the necessary information far away.
With Samsung, you just need to go to the menu from the remote control, find the settings and select the *Contact Samsung* column. The necessary data is located next to the inscription *Model code*.
Reference! Next to it you can read what version of software (firmware) this device has.
In LG devices, by pressing the menu button, you need to select the section *help* or *information about the TV*.
On Sony brand screens, the model number appears in the upper right corner when you perform the following manipulations:
- Device without Android TV. Select the *Home* button, then *Settings*, in some versions *Help*, then *Customer Support*.
- If with Android TV. The first button is *Help*, then the item *System Information*.
It is also easy to find what you need in products from other companies.
Why know your TV model?
Each series of electronic devices released on the market has, in addition to standard ones, its own unique parts and software. When might you need this information?
- When contacting a service center or the nearest household appliance repair shop when problems arise.
- In an electrical store, when buying a new remote control to replace a broken one. And if you decide to purchase a game console or media player that is compatible with your TV.
- To find an improved firmware version to upgrade the device.
Clue! If you are unable to find information using any of the methods described above, rely on external data to search for similar photos with descriptions on the Internet.
What information does the model code contain?
The obscure characters that make up the code can be deciphered.
If you know that, according to markings generally accepted among leading companies, the location and meaning of letters and numbers convey the same information. Examples: LG 32LN540V-ZA or SAMSUNG LE-40F530 P7W.
So, the first two digits will indicate the diagonal size of the screen. Just not in the usual centimeters, but in inches. That is, if your monitor is 32 inches, then it will be a little more than 0.81 meters.
By the following letter it is easy to find out what technology the display was made using:
- P - plasma.
- L - liquid crystal with HD resolution.
- U - LCD with Ultra HD resolution.
- S - technology from 2016, means *Super HD*.
- E – popular OLED monitors.
At SAMSUNG, these letters are brought forward: LE is a matrix with liquid crystals, PE is a plasma screen.
The year in which the TV was manufactured is indicated by the following letter symbol:
- For LG 2013: A for devices with 3D function, N - without 3D, 2014 - B, 2015 - F (for curved screen -G), 2016 - H (digit 6 added for OLED), 2017 - J (+ 7 for OLED), 2018 – K (+8 c OLED).
- For SAMSUNG 2013 the year is F.
The remaining digits sequentially give the series number, for series and modifications. The larger the number, the greater the changes in the model in quantitative and qualitative terms compared to the previous version.
The trailing letter on LG devices denotes the tuner: V can receive DVB-T/T2, DVB-C, DVB-S/S2 format signal. At SAMSUNG, these letters will tell you about the design, color and other design.
This is how, even if you have lost technical documents, you can learn a lot about your TV using the model number.
