How to reprogram the TV remote

The original remote control that came with the TV may break, get lost, and there are cases of spontaneous settings failure. Finding a new identical one can be problematic, and a completely functional “sloth” could be lying around from a previous TV or even VCR. Newer models have a special button - auto scanning, which allows you to link the remote control to any TV, but if there is no such button, you will have to reprogram the device. It's not as difficult as it sounds, and you don't need any programming skills.

How to reprogram the remote control - algorithm

If the remote control is not new and its serviceability is in doubt, then to check its functionality, look at the infrared diode (the light in front of the remote control) through the camera of your phone or digital camera - it should light up when you press the buttons. The eye does not see the IRDA range, but the camera recognizes it. Next, we need the device code (usually 4 digits). You can find it out in the instructions for the TV, or by examining the sticker on the back of the device, where the model and serial number are indicated.

If this does not bring success, then on the RCA.com website you can search for the code either by the brand of the TV or by the brand of the previous remote control, if available. Open the hatch where the batteries are located and look for an engraving or sticker with the marking, for example, RCR321A. We enter this brand into the search field on the RCA website - and we get a code, or even a whole instruction manual with all the setup codes.

The algorithm for direct binding is as follows.

1. You need to press and hold the TV button on the remote control. The LED will light up, if provided in the design. Do not release the button.
2. Now you need to dial the TV code on the digital buttons of the remote control. When you start typing, the diode will go out, then turn on again.
3. Release the TV button. A single blink of the diode indicates that the code is valid, four times - a sign of an input error, you need to start all over again.
4. Switch the channel to make sure the binding is successful.

Perhaps not all functions will be available, but the basic ones (switching channels, turning on/off, adjusting sound, images, entering the menu) should work.
