Horizontal stripes on the TV screen
The appearance of stripes on the screen indicates a problem with the TV. It is best to invite a specialist who will professionally repair the device. If the owner himself wants to understand the problem, we must not forget about safety precautions.

Why do horizontal stripes appear?
The problem that has arisen in the form of horizontal stripes on the TV screen has specific causes. For example, a narrow white bar means that the source of the problem is frame scanning. Problems causing trouble may include the following:
- The frame capacitors of the frame chip are damaged.
- The frame chip has no power.
- Cracks have formed in the HR (frame scan) elements.
If horizontal or vertical stripes appear on your monitor, the problem may be caused by the following factors:
- if the matrix malfunctions, colored verticals appear;
- horizontal stripes of different nuances inform about the disconnection of the cable from the matrix;
- if the matrix makes an error, a thin vertical line appears;
- decoder failure is characterized by black bars;
- white horizontal line means frame scanning problems.
In these cases, you need to contact a specialist.
If a narrow white vertical line appears on the monitor, this indicates a single matrix error.If the reason is a change in voltage, then after a while the TV recovers and continues to display as usual.
One or more vertical stripes of the same color appear due to a matrix failure. Partial repairs or replacement of the entire part will help here. Horizontal multi-colored stripes mean that the contact of the cable with the matrix has weakened. Or the connection between them has completely disappeared. To solve the problem, it will be enough to re-solder the contacts.
Microcircuit malfunction
It is necessary to make sure that there are no ring cracks in the soldering in the microcircuit itself and the wiring. This issue may be the root cause of the problem. If cracks are found, it means that the leads of the part need to be re-soldered.
Then you need to look at the stress distribution. It can be 9 volts or 45 volts, depending on the chip. The pre-stage of the component is powered by low voltage, and the output channel is powered by high voltage.
As a rule, the frame scan is powered by TDKS. But there are TV models that receive voltage from the power supply. So, power is supplied through breaking resistors and supplied to the corresponding inputs. When these resistors break, the TV begins to broadcast a white stripe. Also, a broken resistor may indicate:
- malfunction of the personnel chip;
- the existence of any load in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Has a horizontal line appeared on your TV screen? To solve the problem, you need to look for swollen capacitors in the wiring, in the output stage, and in the power supply of the circuit itself. They usually have a large capacity: 1000–2000 µF. They can be soldered, or even better, replaced.
Broken frame coils
One of the reasons for the appearance of a white stripe is a break in the frame coils.This is a very rare type of failure. As a rule, they must be replaced to correct the defect.
Why did horizontal stripes appear on the TV screen? If the leads become loose near the solder on the socket of the deflection system, they should be restored. This does not require replacement of parts. The wires here are quite thick and break very rarely. But an interturn short circuit requires a complete replacement of the coils. Unfortunately, they are very difficult to find for sale. Therefore, the specialist makes and screws them himself, which is very labor-intensive and difficult. You should also check whether the coils at the terminals are soldered.
Decoder malfunctions
The appearance of a white stripe indicates a problem with the column (row) decoder on the matrix. The cause of the problem may be a power surge or a shock during a thunderstorm. If you do not immediately resort to repairs, the stripe will increase.
If the decoder malfunctions, it is necessary to change the matrix, and its cost is quite expensive. The part is located on the matrix or on a cable located in front of it. Warming up the junction of the cable with the matrix helps for a short time or does not help at all.
But you don’t always have to resort to an expensive procedure. Sometimes the problem of horizontal stripes on a TV is:
- the need to replace the T-KON board;
- loose position of the matrix cable.
A small surgical intervention will quickly solve the problem.
