The hygge interior is based on the Danish philosophy of living with the same name. Serenity, comfort, tranquility are its main characteristics. The interior in this design seems like a nice and warm haven on cold days.

Decorating a bedroom in hygge style

In Denmark, from November to March, people prefer not to go out much. Therefore, the atmosphere of the bedroom is created in such a way that it is obvious that a homebody lives here.

1. The overall style is simple, homely, warm, without unnecessary details or trifles.
2. Compared to other styles, hygge is a mixture of minimalism, country and a bit of a loft theme.
3. Light colors predominate: white of all shades, light beige, light and pastel colors of brown, blue and light blue.
4. Natural materials are used for finishing: stone, tiles, parquet for the floor, wooden panels for the walls.

Reference! Wallpaper is almost never used within this style. They can be pasted on one of the walls as a spot of color.

The importance of light and lights

The lighting is dimmed. A reminder of a sunset or a romantic evening by candlelight is the best metaphor to describe it.

Denmark has little sunshine in winter. Therefore, multi-level lighting is in use there. Each room has basic lamps, floor lamps, sconces, and table lamps. And sometimes in the evenings residents light candles.

Important! Curtains cannot be hung on windows within this style.Nothing should interfere with the penetration of daylight. But it is customary to decorate windows with green plants.

Correct arrangement of furniture

A reading area with a blanket and a cup of coffee is a must in the bedroom. The Danes do it right on the wide windowsill. But you can use a wide chest or couch. And for children they build decorative wigwams or houses.

Furniture can also be placed in the middle of the room, if its size allows. But if the room is small, it is placed along the walls, leaving more free space for activity.

Important! No matter how much furniture there is in the room, its arrangement should provide maximum space and air. Narrow passages and barely opening doors are contraindicated!

It is not customary to allocate separate areas for children, the elderly, and adult family members. For example, a children's corner can be made right on the mezzanine of the parent's bedroom, and the dining table can be placed in the living room next to the sofa.

All doors between rooms are kept open (with rare exceptions). And in this state, separate rooms seem to turn into one. Furniture does not interfere with these transformations. The Danes often have furniture elements in one room that continue or complement those in another.

Additional items

The feeling of coziness is created through cute elements and additional things. The most popular are:

• blankets;
• pillows;
• beautiful pots with indoor flowers;
• beautiful ceramics.

Beautiful mirrors in antique frames, fireplaces, and carpets on the floor are also common decorative items. When decorating a room, it is important not to over-clutter it. The Danes prefer to buy few things, but choose high-quality and expensive accessories.
