What humidity should be in the bedroom
An adjusted level is vital for the health and social condition of all family members.
Why is it important
Too high or low air humidity affects many factors in the apartment and entails the following consequences:
- dry air appears, causing the skin, mucous membranes of the eyes and respiratory tract to dry out;
- there is often a feeling of acute sore throat;
- allergies appear, in some cases even asthma;
- drowsiness and fatigue occur.
When the parameter is increased, the following occurs:
- dangerous and toxic mold;
- pianos, violins and other musical instruments made of natural wood deteriorate;
- chairs and tables, windows, doors are deformed.
Important! In addition to health, this indicator affects the settling of dust in the room, as dust mites actively multiply, indoor flowers dry out and die, pets also suffer, like people, furniture made of natural wood begins to crumble and loses its presentation.
Suitable humidity under normal conditions and under special conditions
According to the established standards of GOST of the Russian Federation, this level in the bedroom should be:
- in summer – 40%;
- in winter – 60%.
It will be ideal for a comfortable stay and pastime if the humidity in the bedroom corresponds to the following parameters:
- in the cold heating season - from 56 to 70%;
- in sultry heat - at least 57 to 77%.
Important! If there are small children in the apartment, then the minimum humidity level should be at least 60%. When the air temperature in the bedroom is not lower than 17 degrees.
Knowing the norm of this indicator in the bedroom, you can adjust it if necessary. The best solution to increase humidity levels is to buy a humidifier. If the air is very dry, you need to keep the device turned on for about 10 days, then the materials and furniture in the room will become saturated with moisture, and the indicator will gradually increase.
Lowering the room level:
- in winter it is useful to ventilate the room;
- use a dehumidifier;
- increased air humidity may be caused by a leak in the water pipes, it must be eliminated;
- Do not use the air conditioner in cooling mode;
- use a hood over the stove every time you cook;
- fill the room with plants, they will replenish the required level of humidity in the room;
- put an aquarium or any other vessel with water, it will evaporate and fill the air with water droplets, thereby increasing the humidity of the air;
- Carry out daily wet cleaning of the room, both in the morning and in the evening.
What are the consequences of failure to maintain humidity?
Excessively dry air in the room stimulates severe loss of moisture through the skin and respiratory tract. This leads to some rather unpleasant factors and consequences:
- hair ceases to be shiny and elastic, nails become brittle, skin peels and cracks appear;
- the mucous membrane of the eyes dries out, itching and “sand” appear in the eyes;
- blood thickens, circulates more slowly, severe headaches;
- the viscosity of gastrointestinal juice increases;
- these are frequent colds, dry nasopharynx, respiratory tract, decreased immunity;
- increasing the level of allergens in the air, as they must bind to liquid droplets in the atmosphere.
Regulate your humidity levels and stay healthy!
