Which walk-behind tractor is better: belt or geared?
Russian-made equipment is equipped with motors created in different countries. Initially, they installed exclusively “native” models, then, in an attempt to reduce the cost of products, they installed Chinese ones. They showed satisfactory results, so it was decided to try further.
Japanese and American engines showed the best effect.
Users choose more often petrol models, which are characterized by low cost, excellent maintainability, and low noise during operation. Japanese-made engines reduce consumption and serve for many years without complaints.
Belt or gearbox: what to choose?
The first option is considered budget. The belts move quickly, without putting pressure on the motor and bearings, and do not make much noise. The drive is easy to assemble, repair, and does not require special maintenance or costs.
The belt drive does not require additional lubrication, and it has a number of advantages over other devices:
- smooth transmission, with no need for additional lubrication;
- easy to use, if replacement is necessary, you can do it yourself;
- low noise;
- wear of parts is minimal;
- long service life, which is guaranteed by the manufacturer.
Drive belts are made from strong materials. Fiberglass, which has improved performance and load-bearing properties, is included in the composition.
The variator is sold with a gearbox. Chinese manufacturers provide the part assembled, which makes it easier to install on the walk-behind tractor. The warranty period is at least 2 years. They are unpretentious and productive, often running on diesel fuel.
Among the advantages are the high number of revolutions, power and engine volume. Its durability directly depends on strength. At high speeds, the load on the gearbox is maximum; it quickly wears out and becomes unusable. The service life of the part is sharply reduced.
Which motor is better?
To cultivate their own plot, gardeners often resort to additional equipment to reduce the amount of time and effort spent on work. You have to choose from a large number of models. The main thing is to take into account the amount of work and the required power.
Geared products with four-stroke engines are often chosen if cleaning a large area of land is required. They are powerful, run on gasoline or diesel fuel, and you can choose a budget model.
