What is a mini tractor and what are its types?
Minitractor is a collective name for several formats of mobile gardening equipment. What does this concept include:
- Ryder is the smallest vehicle in the segment. It is a small “machine”, suitable only for transporting materials and cutting grass (thanks to the built-in lawn mower). By disconnecting the scythe, we get a regular means of transportation.
- Garden tractor - has an engine of up to 15 horses. Suitable for mowing, transporting cargo, snow removal and other small tasks. Compact sizes allow you to store the product even in a closet or home basement. We recommend not to take devices made of plastic, as their durability is a word. Better save up and order yourself a solid aluminum device.
- Actually, the minitractor itself is a full-fledged equipment, with a power of 15-18 hp. Works with any tasks. It all depends on what attachments you put on the transport. Moreover, tasks are completed at any time of the year
Attachments are accessories that expand the capabilities of any equipment. This includes various trailers, scythes, seeders, uprooters, irrigation systems and other garden tools. The larger your budget, the more add-ons you can buy and put on your tractor.
How to choose a tractor for the household and what parts it consists of
A good mini tractor has several blocks (parts):
- Power shaft. It is needed to transfer speed to attachments from the engine.
- Three-point hitch. Consists of 3 levers and allows you to install additional body kits. They will be controlled by such levers by the operator.
- Cassette mechanism. Addition to the lever system. Allows you to install large body kits without additional outside help.
- Hydraulic mount – for mounting a loader or excavator. The stronger the hydraulic pump, the easier it is to operate the awning.
- Hydrostatic chassis.
- Power steering. For heavy garden equipment.
- Some additions. For example, heating in the cabin or blocking one chassis for a sharp turn.
Choose from what you need. It’s better to go with the model that pulls the most body kits. You never know what might come in handy.
Alternative options for choosing a mini tractor
If you don’t have a store with whole tractors at hand, but want to have productive equipment on your site, then here are a few “substitutes” for garden equipment:
- The walk-behind tractor is a universal tool for hilling beds, plowing, cleaning the area and transporting goods. It all depends on the engine power and the attachments that you have installed on the device. Don't confuse it with a cultivator!
- Construction loader. Small vehicles are suitable for working on paths or in public utilities. There is no point in using it for garden beds.
- Hydraulic loader. An even smaller option than a construction one. It has little functionality, but can be useful.
- The best analogue to any tool is handmade.
Thus, we can say with confidence: you can work with or without a tractor. Taking some kind of alternative to “have it” is a waste of money. If you need to choose a mini tractor for your dacha, then do not spend money on a walk-behind tractor or cultivator.
