Mandatory actions before starting to operate the device
Preparing to start the mower involves checking that all elements are securely fastened and preparing the fuel mixture. As for the first, special attention should be paid to fastening the cutting equipment. Petrol mowers, as a rule, are very powerful, and are characterized by a high speed of rotation of the knife or disk. An insufficiently secure blade can injure the user in the first place. In addition, it increases vibration in the device, and this often leads to failure.
Petrol mowers are in most cases equipped with a two-stroke engine. Its refueling requires the preparation of a special fuel mixture.
Such motors do not have a crankcase and do not have a separate system designed for oil lubrication. The role played by these elements is assumed by the freshly prepared combustible mixture. By the way, and this is important to take into account: the components are mixed based on one filling. It is impossible to dilute with a “reserve”, but only fresh composition should be used.
Fuel consists of two components. This is oil and gasoline. Suitable fuel is AI-92, 93, 98.Proportions for mineral - 1:34, for synthetics - 1:50. You should check the trimmer manufacturer's recommendations for oil viscosity. There are special products for two-stroke engines and specifically air-cooled ones. Using untested or inappropriate options may result in the scythe failing.
The mixture should be diluted in a separate clean container. This cannot be done directly in the lawn mower tank! Half the volume of fuel and all the oil are poured into the container. Then everything is mixed. Then the remaining fuel is added. Mix again. Now you can refuel!
This should be done by placing the tool on the ground: this way there is a greater chance that the liquid will not spill.
How to start a lawn mower: procedure
To start a gasoline trimmer, you must do the following:
- Close the air damper by moving the lever.
- Turn on the ignition - to do this, turn the key or handle to the appropriate position.
- If the lawn mower has a manual fuel pump, then you need to press it 2-4 times until a flammable mixture appears inside the primer.
- Place the device on the ground. Press the part where the motor is located with your knee and slowly pull out the starter handle until resistance appears (the so-called hook). You need to make sure that the blade of the lawn mower is not in contact with anything at the moment.
- Then, with a sharp movement, you need to pull the cord towards yourself 3-5 times.
When the trimmer is wound up, the damper opens and locks in the middle position. Before operation, you should wait about five minutes - let the lawn mower run at idle speed.
If it fails to start, you need to open the valve again. Otherwise, the spark plugs will be flooded with fuel during subsequent movements of the cord.After this, you should start the engine 2-3 times with the handbrake open. If you still can’t start it, you need to close the damper and try a few more times.
The warmed-up engine starts simply: its switch is put in the working position. Well, then the cord twitches before the start.
Common mistakes that inexperienced owners often make include starting with the ignition not turned on or jerking to start more than five times when the throttle is closed.
Some tips
The launch cannot be carried out indoors or in the same place where the equipment was refueled. High concentrations of toxic exhaust gases have a negative impact on human health.
Do not smoke while preparing or refueling a flammable mixture. It is prohibited to carry out these actions near an open fire.
New equipment needs a “break-in”. Don't press on the gas too hard. At first, you need to work, making short stops, so that all the elements, as they say, get used to and are sufficiently lubricated.
