A watering hose reel is a useful device that every gardener would like to have. However, the cost of store-bought options is not affordable for everyone. What methods of making a homemade reel are not offered by folk craftsmen. Let's look at how to implement one of them - from a wheel rim.

What is needed to make a reel?
In addition to the base - the wheel - you need a bearing of a suitable size, round and profile pipes. You will need a steel rod and plates, fittings. For ease of movement, you should find wheels (for example, from a cart).
To work you will need:
- welding machine;
- drill;
- angle grinder;
- grinding and bending machine;
To give the device a presentable appearance and protect it from corrosion, you should purchase metal paint.
Manufacturing process
Drawings and diagrams are not needed for work. The sequence of actions for making a coil looks like this:
- Install the disk on the axle. To do this, you need to select a bearing, visually center and weld the part to the disk, and weld a pipe to its inner part. After these simple manipulations, we got a disk placed on an axis. The last one is the pipe.
- We build a frame and attach the wheels. The axis is welded to a piece of rectangular pipe. A handle is constructed, also from a piece of pipe. The axle for the wheels is fixed to the frame. Its ends are turned on a machine.To secure the wheels, threads are cut and nuts and washers are used.
- Making the inner pipe. Take a piece of pipe. We make a thread at both ends if it is missing there. This pipe is placed inside the axle. It is needed to connect the hose wrapped around the coil and to supply water from the main line to it.
- We make rims. We bend them from steel plates. Then you need to weld them to the disk. The result is ideal sides for hose.
- Let's paint and try it out. We cover the homemade product with paint. Then we attach fittings to the inside of the pipe, to which we connect the hose. We move the coil where necessary, unwind the product for irrigation and connect the hand-made device to the pipeline.
That's it - the garden hose reel is ready.
