What does foil do when planting potatoes?

Unique information can be found on gardening forums where people who like to grow potatoes on their own plot gather. It turns out that you can increase the volume of tuber crop harvest using foil. And this is understandable, especially since it performs several functions at once.

Why do they put foil when planting potatoes?

First of all, let’s figure out how to properly use this shiny material in plantings. Summer residents say that it is quite simple to get a harvest several times better than that of a neighbor with a similar composition of soil on the plot.

The foil is thrown directly into the hole along with the seedlings. It is first crushed into a tight ball.

The size of the ball is small, enough volume for a small child's fist. We throw one such sphere into the prepared hole along with the potatoes. Further all manipulations are the same as during a normal landing. We take care of the beds in the usual way, freeing them from weeds, hilling them and getting rid of parasites, if any appear.

What will foil do when planting potatoes?

First of all, aluminum sheets have a complex chemical composition. In addition to the aluminum from which the rolls are rolled, it contains iron and silicon in large quantities. As well as a list of impurities useful for tuber crops.

Their share in the total composition is small, but significant when used in garden beds:

  • copper;
  • magnesium;
  • manganese;
  • zinc;
  • titanium.

These elements nourish the plant crop, protect against the negative effects of diseases and parasites that settle and feed on young shoots. Directly to the product ball made of foil does not cause harm, but carefully protects it from the effects of negative factors.

The benefits of foil when planting potatoes

It should also be noted that balls made of sheet aluminum prevent caking of the soil. They protect the tubers from the pressure of the soil walls inside the hole. Natural “ventilation” occurs, the earth remains loose and perfectly allows fresh air, water and ultraviolet light to pass through. Potatoes do not rot and grow at high speed.

When dug up, the harvest is 4-5 times larger than the potatoes of gardeners who do not use this useful life hack. In this case, the aluminum foil balls that have already been in the garden should be thrown away. They have already given up all their beneficial properties: this will be noticeable by their dull appearance.

Comments and feedback:

Aluminum salts are deposited in the liver and after the dose accumulates, kirdyk occurs!

Not a complete article. Tell us about the benefits, tell us about the harm.

It would be nice to show examples of planting and digging, rather than unfoundedly rolling out material!

Pest article! Aluminum and tian are harmful. The rest is simply not there. It is important to get not a “big harvest” from a hypothetical arrangement, but a useful one, which will not come from foil, that’s for sure!

It's better to add manure

What, I should turn my garden into a landfill.

Do you believe such advice? Think better with your head and remember the chemistry that no one has canceled. Well, you have to write such nonsense about the composition of foil. When exposed to air, aluminum becomes coated with an oxide film, which protects it from further exposure to the environment. In neutral and similar soils it does not react in any way; in acidic soils, salts are formed that are far from beneficial for the body. Well, there is no need to talk about the fact that a ball of foil thrown into a hole improves the structure of the soil - bullshit. As well as the fact that plants use magnesium and other metals from foil. The author probably copied the article from Zen, such garbage is a dime a dozen there.

Elementary ignorance! Aluminum can only do harm. The author does not know chemistry for the 5th B grade!

What kind of nonsense will they write? Pour some light beer over it. Half a bucket per bush. Drunk potatoes will grow until the new year.

What nonsense! “They protect the tubers from the pressure of the soil walls... Natural “ventilation” occurs, the soil remains loose and perfectly allows fresh air, water and ultraviolet to pass through.” There must have been some foil in the warehouses...

Another order, that is, useful advice on the destruction and reduction of the working-age population, and where the censorship is looking when letting this nonsense through. But if I increase the yield and increase the tubers, then in the fall I cover the potato plot with manure and straw, where there is more straw and I make a layer on the plot of about 10-15 cm, then the harvest is three years old, I’m already surprised.

It’s immediately obvious that the author is a fan of Viktor Robertovich! Even under the communists, he planted aluminum cucumbers!

I throw gold bars into the holes. a day later the potato interacts with the gold and escapes from the garden. paradox

People have gone completely crazy if they believe such nonsense. Will 1 ball of foil in a hole improve soil structure? The composition of the foil is beautifully written (especially about large amounts of silicon, iron, etc.), but it has nothing in common with the real thing. The author forgot to write that aluminum is coated with a film of oxide, which prevents it from reacting. Such reactions are possible only in acidic peat soil. I have never heard of plants suffering from a lack of aluminum, but the harm from salts of this metal is well known. This article is not the first and not the last on the network.

And I suggest pushing metal “ten-ruble notes” into the hole. So what? There will definitely be a stash in the fall...)))
