DIY tandoor accessories

Dishes cooked in an oven such as tandoor, are known for their excellent taste and aroma. Besides this, they are also useful. Operating a roasting oven requires the use of various accessories. Many of these devices can be made by yourself.

What accessories are there for tandoor?

Almost all products used in the process of using the oven are designed to place food inside. These include:

  • shelf - can be one-, two- or three-tiered, attached to the edges of the roasting pan and allows you to cook dishes both in the open air and in pots;
  • skewers and “herringbone” - the first are used independently or are intended to create a device consisting of a deep dish and a rod placed in it with pins attached to it;
  • hangers, grips and hooks.

Useful accessories that are not directly used in cooking include a cover and stand.

Many of the above products are easy to make yourself.

Stand

Helps protect the oven from premature wear, moisture and contamination.

The most suitable material for the stand is steel. A product made from it will be strong and durable.You need to purchase a metal tape and steel curls (sold in garden departments). To work you need a welding machine. Stages:

  • it is necessary to measure the base of the stove;
  • Make a circle from the tape, fix the ends by welding;
  • curls should be attached to the resulting circle.

When performing the last stage, it is important to maintain accuracy in order to avoid the appearance of asymmetry. Otherwise, the device will not stay firmly on the ground.

Case

This accessory is created to protect the roasting oven from dust, dirt and precipitation. If you have sewing skills, then making a cover is not difficult. You just need to choose the right material - it should be durable and comfortable to use. Synthetic fabric used for sewing awnings is suitable.

The pattern can be made on a piece of cardboard, focusing on the dimensions of the oven. The finished product should be 20 cm higher and wider - without taking into account the seams. The bottom of the pattern must be rounded.

Skewers and herringbone

Making your first device is easy. You need to take rods or steel wire. The workpiece should be 6–8 mm in diameter and about 70 cm long. Skewers should be cut. To do this, use a chopper at an angle of 45 degrees.

Then the workpieces must be heated and beaten with a hammer until they become flat. Make a hook at the blunt end.

The skewers are used on their own or used to make a Christmas tree. This device is a deep container, in the center of which there is a rod with extending “needles”. Shortened skewers are used as the latter. To make such an accessory you need:

  • any deep container - frying pan, stewpan, kettle (the bottom should be flat);
  • trimmed skewers;
  • welding machine.

The size of the accessory depends on the diameter of the tandoor. The stewpan is freed from handles. The prepared skewers are welded to a rod - the “trunk of the Christmas tree”. The structure is fixed in the center of the container.

Finally, a loop should be welded to secure the “herringbone” to the furnace wall.

Whatnot

To build this structure you will need steel reinforcement, a welding machine and a grinder:

  • frames in the shape of a circle or triangular are made from reinforcement using welding;
  • then they are welded to two rods;
  • assemble the gratings and fasten them to the resulting frames;
  • On the lower tier there is a container for collecting fat.
Whatnot.

The structure should be slightly smaller in height than the inside of the fryer. It is necessary that the lower tier does not touch the bottom of the tandoor. Ideally, it should be 10 cm above it.

Suspensions, grips, hooks

For various devices that will be lowered inside the tandoor, thick metal must be used as a raw material. In this case, the structures will not become covered with bumps or peel off. These oven products make the cooking process much easier, so you can’t do without them.

For hanging, take steel rods - about 20 cm. Using a chopper, cut off the required pieces of wire, which are then heated. They are bent with a hammer to form a hook.

A grip is necessary for lowering the cast iron inside the furnace and then removing it.

Grip.

In addition to the rods, it requires a wooden handle. It is usually removed from some other, unnecessary devices. The entire creation process is similar to the previous one: the elements are cut, heated, then using molds they are made round. It is better to fix the handle using heat-resistant glue or self-tapping screws. The latter must be inserted into the prepared connector on the rod.
