Is it possible to supply gas to a bathhouse or garage, how to do it and how much does it cost: tips
Quite often, land owners have a question about whether it is possible to supply gas to the bathhouse. There is no direct ban on this, but there are a number of legal restrictions. One of the most important requirements is that the bathhouse must stand on a solid foundation. These and other rules, as well as the procedure for obtaining permission, are described in detail in the material presented.

Bathhouse requirements
Before you understand how to supply gas to a bathhouse, you need to understand what requirements are imposed on the room. The fact is that in many cases, a bathhouse, like other outbuildings, is essentially a self-construction. They do not have a permanent foundation, but stand on supports or a strip base.
Under such conditions, it will not be possible to supply gas to the bathhouse, because first you need to legalize the construction by issuing a technical passport. BTI representatives will come directly to the site and inspect the bathhouse. They will make sure that the premises and equipment comply with several mandatory requirements:
- capital foundation;
- ventilation channel or window;
- stove in a room with a minimum volume of 8 m3;
- the passage in which the stove is installed is 1 m wide;
- distance to the fence from 3 m (if there are buildings on another site - from 6 m);
- presence of a main and emergency door (fire exit);
- both doors must open outward and also be equipped with handles;
- door material is non-flammable;
- stoves are only metal and only factory-made with the appropriate certificate;
- the presence of a fuse that shuts off the gas flow in case of flame extinguishment;
- complete sealing of the chamber;
- the presence of a remote fuel channel;
- the nozzles must be narrowed if the gas is supplied from a cylinder, or expanded if from the main gas pipeline.
3 gasification options
As can be seen from the previous section, quite often there are doubts about whether it is possible to gasify a garage or bathhouse. In the case of an ordinary outbuilding, it will definitely not be possible to complete the procedure, because the structure must be permanent. Several options are possible:
- Build a free-standing bathhouse, having provided in advance all the conditions for gasification in the project.
- Build a bathhouse together with another room, for example, a guest house, a summer kitchen.
- Attach a bathhouse to the living space or convert one of the rooms into it with appropriate reconstruction (if it does not entail relocation or partial destruction of load-bearing walls and/or supports).
The last two options are simpler in terms of paperwork. The fact is that obtaining permission to gasify a permanent residential building (house, outbuilding) is not so difficult. If we are just talking about a bathhouse, even on a solid foundation, the requirements for it are more stringent.
How to get permission
The procedure itself and the method of bringing gas into the bathhouse from home are approximately the same:
- Submit documents.
- Wait for the specialists to arrive.
- Get permission.
- Find out how much it costs to supply gas to the bathhouse and hire a crew.
- Sign the acceptance certificate upon completion of work.
You can submit your application in different ways
- online on the State Services portal;
- online on the portal of the Unified Operator SOCGAZ;
- personally or through a representative (based on a power of attorney) at the MFC.
In this case, you need to take care of the full package of documents in advance:
- passport;
- certificate of ownership or extract from the register for the house and land;
- contract for the purchase (or inheritance, privatization) of a house or land;
- calculation of MCRG;
- situational plan.
It is not always clear where to get the last 2 documents from this list in order to supply gas to the bathhouse. MCRG refers to the maximum volume of gas consumption in 1 hour. This is a parameter that is calculated and fits into the technical specifications (technical conditions). It is determined by specialists depending on the power of the equipment that is supposed to be used. The calculation of the MCRG need not be applied if it is less than 7 m3.
As for the situational plan, this is a diagram that reflects the site, house and other buildings, as well as natural and artificial landmarks on the ground, for example, a forest belt, river, road, industrial, engineering facilities. The document can be ordered independently in several ways:
- online on the Rosreestr website;
- online on the State Services portal;
- in person at the local administration.
Thus, technically connecting the bathhouse to the gas pipeline is not too difficult. But making the premises meet all the requirements is not always possible. If they were not initially provided for in the project, you can attach a bathhouse to a residential building on a solid foundation - then the design will be easier.
