Main features of stretch ceiling care
Today, suspended ceilings are one of the most popular types of finishing. Moreover, it is installed not only in living rooms and bedrooms, but also in kitchens and bathrooms. When cooking or washing in the shower, the ceiling can get very dirty. That is why there is a need to clean it.
Dust usually does not collect on the surface of the ceiling. This is due to the use of special impregnations used in the production of canvases. They provide an antistatic effect.
Exists six basic rules, which should not be forgotten during cleaning:
- for washing we use only the softest and thinnest napkins;
- We categorically do not use acetone: it corrodes the fabric;
- we refuse the vacuum cleaner: its use can ruin the structure of the stretch ceiling;
- remove all jewelry from your hands while washing: even a small bulge on the ring can damage the panel;
- We choose cleaning products without abrasives if you do not want to damage or spoil the smooth surface;
- I wash it very carefully, with soft but confident movements, without strong pressure.
By following these rules, you can be confident in the quality of the hygiene procedures performed. Improvised substances are usually used as cleaning agents. We will talk about them below.
Caring for glossy fabrics
Glossy ceilings are distinguished by a beautiful shine and an almost mirror-like surface, regardless of the color of the stretched material. Often a thin, greasy film appears on them, which has to be removed mechanically. How to clean the material without damaging the canvas?
Firstly, arm yourself with the softest napkin, whichever one you find in your home. In household chemical stores you will find special sprays and aerosols containing alcohol. They easily clean even stubborn grease and dirt.
Secondly, apply the spray to a napkin and distribute it over the canvas with soft, confident movements. After passing the entire surface, erase the resulting dirt film using a clean napkin.
Instead of special sprays, a solution of ammonia is sometimes used. The 10% composition is diluted in clean water in a ratio of 9:1.
Important wipe the ceiling dry after completing hygiene procedures. This way it will again acquire an attractive shine and mirror surface.
Caring for matte ceilings
Matte panels are more capricious, since differ in porous structure. As a result, dirt that gets on the surface is more strongly absorbed into the stretch ceiling, and cleaning becomes more difficult.
There are several types of matte canvases:
- satin;
- fabric;
- PVC.
Satin is distinguished by a flat surface, without pronounced graininess. Fabric is a weave of threads, between which dirt often accumulates. PVC ceilings have a pronounced granular structure that makes cleaning difficult.
The principle of caring for matte surfaces is the same. You will just have to spend more time to carefully remove the dirt. Also use a soft cloth and cleaning solution - special or prepared from available substances.
What products are suitable?
Any chemicals that can clean the surface of dust, dirt and grease are suitable for cleaning suspended ceilings. The exceptions are aggressive agents and chemistry with abrasive elements. They can render the ceiling unusable.
The situation becomes more complicated if there is a person living in the house with an allergy to household chemicals. And some housewives do not use purchased products at all, making do with homemade recipes. In this case, use a 9% ammonia solution if you need to wash off difficult stains. For normal hygiene procedures, use a solution of liquid soap.
remember, that fresh stains are much easier to remove. If you see that a stain has appeared, immediately act on it pointwise and blot it with a napkin. This will make your life easier.
How often should I clean?
The frequency of cleaning directly depends on the type of room. You will have to clean the children's room more often. This room requires special attention to cleanliness, and little pranksters can stain the canvas with glue, felt-tip pens or plasticine. Cleaning is carried out about once a month.
Living rooms do not require constant maintenance. Especially if before installation you chose high-quality material with special impregnations. They do not absorb dirt and dust and are easy to clean.Here cleaning is carried out no more than 1-2 times a year.
The kitchen and bathroom are the areas where the most pollution occurs due to condensation and grease. In the kitchen where food is prepared, even soot can appear. And this does not depend on the quality of the hood. You will have to clean here using special means, at least 2-4 times a year.
In fact, washing a stretch ceiling is not a difficult task. Armed with simple rules and light cleaning products, let's get to work. And don’t forget to wipe the surface dry after finishing washing. It's necessary, so that the ceiling takes on its original appearance.
