The most expensive knife in the world
If we talk about cutlery, then, perhaps, it was the knife that was first discovered by mankind. It was used back in the Neolithic period, although at that time it was not intended for eating, but for hunting and butchering prey. However, no one then thought about using it in the capacity in which it is used now.
Since then, the knife has undergone a complete transformation and now you can find not only the usual tableware item, but also truly luxurious works of art, the cost of which sometimes exceeds the price of a house on the banks of the Neva.
“Pearl of the East” - is it possible to cut bread?
The most expensive knife in the world was created by Buster Varensky, a master of exclusive weapons. What's so special about it? Yes, in principle, little things...:
- the surface of this exclusive knife is made of 18 carat gold;
- the handle is made of dark green jade and gold filigree;
- the weapon is inlaid with 153 (!) emeralds and ten diamonds (in case anyone doesn’t understand its value at first glance).
In general, the author of this masterpiece spent 20 years creating it. Of course, this does not mean that Varenski did nothing but “conjure” this order. This master became famous throughout the world because real works of art were “born” under his hand, if one can say so about knives and daggers.
The “Pearl of the Orient” knife was made to order, which is quite logical - definitely not for Ikea! The name of the owner is still kept secret, but it is known that he was (and maybe is) a certain millionaire from Japan (well, samurai are partial to piercing and cutting objects).Surely the $2.1 million knife is still in his collection. As a last resort, it was inherited by a younger millionaire of the same dynasty.
By the way! Initially, the cost was estimated at $1.2 million, but at the very beginning of the auction the price almost doubled and reached such a fabulous level.
It is worth noting that the “Pearl of the East” itself does not carry any functional component. But who would think of cutting Borodinsky with such a device (if it can be called such). The purpose of this particular weapon is to sparkle with the shimmer of diamonds and emeralds somewhere in private collections.
