Why do you fill pans?
A common kitchen tradition is to pour water into the pan immediately after frying. And sometimes they also add detergent or soda and leave it like that for “soaking.”
This is primarily due to the fact that during the cooking process the food became overly fried and crusts formed on the bottom from the remains of baked food. They are not so easy to remove. People's experience suggests: after they are saturated with water, it will be easier to do this.
This method does not cause any complaints. But often the housewife uses cold water for soaking. But you shouldn’t do this!
Why is cold water bad for a hot pan?
If you have a cast iron product on hand, you can still fill it with water, not paying attention to its temperature. It’s not for nothing that cast iron is hardened! After this, temperature changes are not scary for him. But it’s better to pour warm liquid.
But for other materials a sudden change in temperature is undesirable!
Non-stick coating
For modern products with non-stick coating, this action is detrimental.
- Firstly, due to temperature changes, cold water will act on the hot bottom as a coating destroyer.
- Secondly, the added detergent will not clean, but will spoil the surface of the dishes due to active substances that are excessively heated.
It is strictly forbidden to fill a Teflon product with cold water, even if you are in a hurry to wash it.
Important! The Teflon coating does not withstand temperature changes and ordinary sponges, which only scratch the surface.
Be sure to wait for the metal to cool completely, and only then fill it with warm (room temperature), but not hot water.
It is very dangerous not only to fill the frying pan with water, but also to immediately start washing it. As a result of such cleaning, the product will lose any non-stick effect. And even when frying in oil, food will begin to stick to the bottom.
If you want to wash a Teflon frying pan, be sure to wait until it cools down naturally.
Important! If the frying pan is made of stainless steel, then it can be filled with water and left for 6-10 hours. Just do not clean off the burnt areas with a metal sponge, as it will scratch the surface.
Aluminum
Aluminum frying pan should be washed with cold water. But you should wait until the metal cools down after cooking so that there is no sudden temperature change. It will lead to deformation of the product.
