The myth of “unbreakable” dishes: what is it and is it really unbreakable?
People often come to the office of private companies and offer to purchase various goods. Most often these are utensils made of “unbreakable glass”. But the phrase itself is absurd, women believe in such a possibility and willingly buy such products.

Simple check
Usually, as part of a promotion, young and attractive people, often men, are sent to apartments and offices. In a well-placed and confident voice, they talk about the benefits of the dishes. Naturally, they will tell you about a huge discount in honor of some holiday or just like that - “because you are an extraordinary woman.”
But you shouldn’t blindly trust the promoter’s speeches. Ask him to do a simple test - drop the offered plate on the floor. After all, the dishes are made of “unbreakable glass”, so they cannot break.
Be sure that not a single salesperson will agree to conduct such experiments, because in this case the expensive set will break.
What exactly are “unbreakable cookware”?
A few years ago, manufacturers still tried to use this term everywhere, but people quickly realized that this could not happen in nature. Glass always breaks - you just need to create the appropriate conditions.
Instead of the boring phrase, new terms began to be used:
- hardened;
- reinforced;
- especially durable.
The first option means that the plate can withstand heat and temperature changes from 20 to 140 degrees and vice versa - nothing to do with unbreakable dishes.
The terms “hardened” and “extra strong” are another matter. For such products there are their own GOSTs and TUs. And so, according to official documents, an “unbreakable” plate must withstand a fall from a height of 40 cm. The surface of the tabletop is much higher, so even such a plate will break if we drop it from waist level.
The surface of the floor has a direct meaning. If the kitchen has laminate, linoleum or parquet boards, the dishes may not break. It’s a different matter if the finishing is done with stone or ceramic tiles. 40 cm is enough here so that you can collect tiny fragments of your favorite dish for a long time.
remember, that glassware breaks, even the most durable and advertised. Don't let yourself be deceived by scammers.
