What is a cup?
“How passionate are the conversations about Golgotha
Over a glass of cognac and a cup of coffee"
Igor Mironovich Guberman, Soviet and Israeli writer
The main purpose of the cup is for directly drinking hot drinks: tea, coffee, latte, mulled wine and others. But in some countries it is even customary to eat from cups. For example, in Asia, a bowl is quite popular - a product without a handle into which broth or soup is poured.

As a rule, it always comes with a saucer, and in most cases it is a whole set of dishes - a service. But, of course, there are also single products.

What are there
The types of products depend mainly not so much on the purpose, but on vessel volume:
- Tea - from 200 to 250 ml. Designed, as the name suggests, for tea, coffee-based drinks, cocoa, and hot chocolate.
- Coffee ones are quite small - 50-100 ml. Exclusively for brewed coffee - black or oriental.
- Broth - 350-400 ml. They serve meat and vegetable broths and puree soup. A distinctive feature is that they are often made with two handles for convenience.
In addition to the usual types, there are also special cups for religious rituals:
- In Christianity - a chalice. A vessel for worship, used for the consecration of wine and the reception of Holy Communion. This is a deep container on a long stem, the round base is quite large, sometimes made of valuable metals or inlaid with natural minerals.
- In Eastern religions there are singing bowls. Today they are also used as a tool for meditation, relaxation, medical practices, and yoga.
