New life for old pots

We transform an old saucepan into a new useful thing

The pan, no matter what it is: aluminum, stainless steel or enameled - you can breathe a second life into any of them. Even individual parts of these kitchen utensils, such as lids and handles, should be put to good use. Sometimes you may need brute male strength to realize your ideas.

Container for flowers

To implement this idea, the most shabby saucepan will do. Even if it is one that has been gathering dust somewhere in the garage for a long time and you can count a lot of holes in it, it will still do to make an excellent flower pot.

Once a pan has been chosen to embody this idea, the next step is to decorate and design it. For this you will need:

• Paints for metal surfaces and varnish for fixing paint.
• Adhesive masking tape.
• Self-adhesive film.
• Stencils, coins, rubber bands and other things for creating decor.

ATTENTION: If the pan is enameled, then paint can be applied to it immediately. But if you choose stainless steel, you will have to varnish it first. This will ensure reliable adhesion of the paint to the surface.

Then paint the pan with paint of the same color - this will be the base. After this layer has dried, you can stick any stencils made of self-adhesive film onto it. After patterns are cut out of it and pasted onto the side surface, a second layer of paint of a different color is applied. After everything is dry, carefully remove the adhesive tape.

Country washbasin

In order to make a washbasin from a saucepan, it must be intact, without holes or rusting parts.

Then the surface of the dishes is treated as in the case of a flowerpot. You can also use surface decoration, and sometimes it is enough to limit yourself to just painting in one color you like. After the entire pan has completely dried, you need to drill a hole in the lower part, as close to the bottom as possible.

IMPORTANT: You can drill a hole in stainless steel only with a cobalt drill, which must be constantly cooled during operation. Then you need to insert the tap into the hole and secure it from the inside with a nut.

Such a washbasin is hung in the right place, filled with water - and that’s it, it’s ready for use.

Kitchen holders

Hooks, or rather holders for the kitchen, can be easily made from pot lids. If there are several of these, then you need to decorate them and drill holes in them in one of the halves of the lid. After this, glue the lids to the selected base, with the holes facing up.Now you can insert various kitchen utensils into them, such as knives, wooden stirring spoons, etc.

Exclusive chandelier, lamp

Chandelier - you can make two options:

• Hanging option.
• Desk lamp.

Regardless of which option is chosen, the side surface of the pan must not only be decorated, but also require openwork cutting or drilling. This will require patience and a set of drills with different diameters. You can simply drill many round holes of different diameters, either in a chaotic order, or by making a certain pattern out of circles. To do this, it is better to first mark the holes with a pencil. Next, the surface is decorated as your imagination dictates.

Chair

A large diameter pot will make a great bar stool. To do this, you only need to attach the legs to the pan turned upside down. Reliable pipes are suitable for this. They can be welded if you have access to a welding machine. Or you can simply bolt each leg to the side surface in two places. Come up with upholstery and the bar stool is ready.

Yard decoration

There are many options for decorating your yard using pots that are unsuitable for use in the kitchen:

• Flower pots.
• Wash basin.
• Birdhouse.
• A mailbox, although it’s better to call it a mail cylinder.
• Hanging pot.

Hanging container

A hanging container is another option for using old unnecessary utensils from the kitchen. Moreover, any dilapidated utensil is suitable for the implementation of this idea. The main thing is that after the pan is decorated, make a hole of the required size in it and hang the entire structure on chains or ropes in the right place. You can put anything there.

• From small saucepans you can make not just one chandelier, but a whole complex of ceiling chandeliers suspended on cords at different heights. To make the idea look even more original, you can make the pans different in depth. To do this, you will only need to cut off part of the side surface with a grinder. This way we will get deeper and shallower lampshades.
• From the cut parts you can make a frame for a mirror. This option will look especially original if there are handles on both sides.
• If a free artist is striving from within, then you can make a whole panel from a whole kitchen utensil or from its individual parts; you can decorate it in a variety of ways. The plot can be very diverse, from funny faces to abstract art.
• The sawn-off and processed bottoms of small-diameter pots are suitable as candlesticks for several candles.
