Before Easter, it has been traditional for tens of thousands of years to clean the house. Typically, cleaning begins on the first day of Holy Week (7 days before Easter). On this day, not only the floors, windows and walls are tidied up, but also old things are disposed of. Except for Monday of Holy Week, it is customary to clean on Wednesday. On this day you need to wash the floors, make fresh bed linen and beat out the carpets. On Friday you cannot clean or wash anything.

Attention! The main cleaning is carried out on Maundy Thursday - the time when the soul and body are put in order. On this day, it is customary not only to wash the floors, but also to read prayers to cleanse the soul of negative thoughts, heat the bathhouse and swim on the night from Thursday to Friday.

On Saturday, before Holy Sunday comes, they do a little cleaning, bake Easter cakes, light them in the church and mentally prepare for the holiday. In any case, they prepare for Easter throughout the week before its arrival. It is most common to wash floors on the following days:

Why is it necessary to wash the floors right from the threshold before Easter?
