Laying tiles on a warm electric floor

Warm floor tiles.If you love comfort and are trying to create the most comfortable conditions in your home, then special attention will be paid to all the main interior details. A particularly important condition for creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere is the finishing of the floor. Thanks to modern developments, it can be made with a built-in heating system, the temperature of which will be regulated. You should also pay attention to the coating located on top of the heated floor.

Which floor to choose for laying under tiles

First you need to decide on the choice of floor heating system. Currently, there are several varieties, the main of which are the following options:

  1. Laying a special cable through which heat will flow and heat up the coating. This option is more profitable financially. It costs much less than others. But in this case, difficulties will arise when calculating the length, measuring the room and correctly installing the entire structure. If you have experience and a desire to save money, then this method is perfect.
  2. The second type of insulation is the use of a special mat with a built-in heating cable. It costs more, but has a number of undeniable advantages.Thanks to its thoughtful design, all you have to do is unroll the rug and spread it over the entire area of the room. The mat will also save height, since it will not require extra space for the screed, unlike the previous method.

IMPORTANT! The material must conduct heat well and provide uniform heating of the entire surface for better air circulation. In this case, the coating must be heat-resistant.

Of course, the advantage remains with the heating mat, in which everything is calculated and thought out in advance. However, the choice is individual. If desired, you can install the cable yourself.

Features of laying tiles on warm floors

After installing the heating system, you should take care of a suitable coating. Ceramic tiles are popular. Its installation does not take much time and is quite doable for the average person. However, to achieve the desired result, you need to familiarize yourself with some features:

  • at the end of the installation work, the height of the coating should be the same in all rooms so that there are no sharp transitions;
  • when choosing an adhesive base, you should pay attention to its characteristics - the glue must be resistant to thermal loads;
  • the adhesive applied under the tiles should not exceed a level of more than 1 cm - this ratio will be ideal for heat conduction;
  • It is not recommended to turn on the heating while the glue is drying; it should harden at room temperature;
  • reliable fixation of the heating mat to the floor must be ensured;
  • Think in advance about the exit points of pipes and wires to create additional holes on the surface of the floor covering.

How to lay tiles on an electric heated floor

After completing all the preparatory work and purchasing the necessary tools, you can begin the main stage of laying tiles on top of the heating floor covering. For convenience, we suggest using step-by-step instructions and performing all actions according to the plan.

  1. Using a notched trowel, apply adhesive to the surface of the base and tiles. Special recesses will create the opportunity for a strong grip.
  2. Cover the base with an even layer of glue over 1 square meter.
  3. Lay the tile covering according to the pre-applied markings.
  4. Apply slight force to fix the material.
  5. Repeat the operation with the tile covering on the adhesive-coated surface over the entire area of the room.
  6. Place fixing crosses between them to form the correct seam.
  7. Remove excess adhesive immediately with a dry cloth. If it gets on the front side, lightly dampen the cloth and rinse the tile.

Layers of warm floor under the tiles.

After the adhesive base has completely dried, the seams should be rubbed down and the floor should be given integrity. At the same time, pay attention to the spaces between the tiles; there should be no glue left in them, otherwise nothing will work and the grout will not adhere well. After finishing work, you can turn on the heated floor and check its operation.
