Laying solid parquet boards
Solid parquet boards are one of the most durable materials used for interior decoration. Although outwardly it looks like parquet, the board differs from it in structure because it is made of solid wood. This product is durable and resistant to mechanical damage, therefore it is practical. Laying the boards occurs at the last stage of construction work. In order for everything to be done correctly, you need to know the technique and nuances of installation.

Features of laying solid parquet boards
Before starting installation work, the material should rest for two days. The product must be placed in the living room on special stands, and blocks must be laid between the boards. This is necessary so that the material does not lose its properties and shape after installation. Since the tree is afraid of high humidity, the optimal value is 35–65%.
The surface on which installation will be carried out must be flat, otherwise the floor will creak. All existing irregularities, cracks and other defects must be eliminated. Laying on concrete and on a wooden base is allowed.
Before starting work, the foundation needs to be prepared. It is necessary to clean it and remove all debris.To level the concrete surface, you can use a leveling mixture. If the wooden base creaks or is uneven, then the boards need to be sanded and putty applied. Rotten boards need to be replaced.
To mask the joints, installation should be carried out in the direction of the sun's rays. For the best fixation, loose floorboards must be secured with self-tapping screws.
Methods for laying solid parquet boards
There are several styling options. This:
- concrete base - screed and plywood or logs are used;
- tree;
- adhesive base;
- on screws or staples.
Laying solid boards on a concrete floor
It is somewhat easier to prepare a concrete base for installation work. First you need to remove dust and debris. If there are small cracks or differences in height, it will be enough to fill the floor with a leveling solution. After this, you need to leave the solution until completely dry. This usually takes several days. You also need to check the humidity at the base. The optimal value is 6%. If the value is higher, then additional waterproofing will be required.
The most popular option is laying on plywood.
Stages of installation work:
- sheets of plywood should be cut into equal squares measuring 500x500 mm;
- Apply glue to the base, on which to lay the prepared plywood sheets;
- after this they need to be fixed with dowels;
- the next step is laying parquet boards;
- for fixation you need to use two-component glue;
- additionally secure the product with side fasteners at equal distances;
- After completing the installation work, the floor surface must be cleaned and lightly sanded.
ATTENTION! If the work was carried out in violation of technological conditions, then in the future this will lead to deformation of the entire coating, as well as to a change in the color of its fibers!
The second method of laying on a concrete base is on logs. It is not as popular as the first option.
Stage-by-stage execution of work:
- First you should prepare the logs to which the boards will be attached. Small rectangular blocks are used as lags. All joists must lie flat. This must be controlled at the building level. If necessary, you need to either reduce the height using a plane, or put something under the bars.
- The bars are attached to the base using self-tapping screws. If there are communications under the base, for example, water pipes, then in this case it is better to fix the logs with glue or mastic. The distance between the blocks should be a maximum of 500 mm.
- To make the floor warmer, the distance between the bars can be filled with insulation.
- A waterproofing film should be laid on top, which is secured to the joists with brackets.
- The last step is laying the solid boards.
REFERENCE! It is possible to lay the coating without a special base, but for this the surface must be perfectly flat. This option is applicable only for premises located on the second or higher floors.
Features of laying solid parquet boards on a wooden floor
Before starting work, you should make sure that the old base is quite strong. After which it needs to be sanded and cleaned. If proper leveling cannot be achieved, then sheets of plywood should be laid on top of the base. Installation is carried out in a staggered manner. This will provide additional strength:
- self-tapping screws are used to fix the product - the maximum allowable distance between them should be 20 cm;
- you can use a special adhesive composition - the glue is applied with a spatula to the base, after which it is evenly distributed over its surface;
- After this, you need to additionally secure the product with self-tapping screws.
ATTENTION! The composition must be applied strictly according to the size of one board!
When joining, you need to monitor the gaps between the boards and the wall. If it is large, you should use wedges.
The very first row is laid against the wall, with the grooves facing it. The joints are masked with skirting boards.
When the work is completed, the entire surface is sanded and a protective varnish coating is applied over it. The more layers applied, the better the protection and the stronger the shine.
If all technological requirements are met, solid wood flooring will last a very long time. It is practical, easy to clean and looks very beautiful and impressive.
