Methods for laying parquet boards
There are three installation methods:
- Dry or floating method. Locks are used for connections. This method is the most common. It is very important to prepare the base and locks to achieve results. More suitable for covering small spaces. Suitable for laying on both concrete and wood, the most important thing is that the material is dry and smooth (the last parameter is important so that the boards do not creak). The surface can be leveled with plaster. And if there are too large areas that need to be leveled, you can use a plywood board.
- Using glue. Everything is simple here, the parquet is glued using adhesive material.
- Using fasteners. Anchors, dowels and self-tapping screws are suitable as fastenings. A self-tapping screw is more suitable for a wooden floor, and an anchor or dowel for a concrete floor. But if the fastening is of high quality, it will be suitable for any material.
Rules for laying parquet boards
There are some rules that must be followed to make the board last longer:
- Immediately after purchase, the parquet must be brought into the room where it will be installed. We leave it in the package for two days. This will help the product get used to the room.
- Before installation, the floor is covered with a substrate. It is necessary to protect the product from moisture. The material is made of wood, and water that gets on it can cause mold.
- We lay the material according to the instructions (should be included in the kit).
- The installation method does not greatly affect the final result. The most important thing is to choose a product suitable for the room.
- If gaps appear between the boards, cover them with sealant. But with proper installation of the product, their number should be minimal.
- The product is placed on a substrate. You should not skimp on materials (this applies to both parquet and substrate). This will shorten the life of the product.
- Parquet should be laid starting from the corner, near the window.
Attention! It is recommended to completely lay out one row, and only then proceed to the next.
How to lay parquet boards on plywood
There are several ways to lay parquet on different surfaces. For example, for concrete, it is a good idea to cover the floor with a layer of plywood. This provides that it will lie between the concrete coating and the product. This method will help level out any unevenness in the floor and increase its service life. We adhere to the following rules:
- The thickness of the plywood is equal to the thickness of the product.
- Plywood should also be stored for two days in the room where installation is carried out.
- Individual sections of plywood are coated with glue before installation.
The process of laying parquet on plywood is as follows:
- Glue is applied to the plywood.
- We lay the material, leaving the required gap.
- We mount the wedge.
- We attach it to the base.
- If the last board does not fit, you can cut off an extra piece.
- We lay the next row from the place where the sawn board is located.
- Most often, to lay the last row it is necessary to cut all the boards.
Laying such material is a simple process, but requires compliance with all the rules. At the same time, there are many styling options.
