Preparatory work for installing parquet on plywood

Before installation, you need to complete several preparation steps:

1. Marking the territory. Place the squares directly on the floor. We do this so that no seams appear between the material.
2. To straighten the squares, we use a jigsaw and a hacksaw. You can reduce the size of materials if necessary.
3. We use insulation to keep the floor warm. It can be installed either under plywood or between plywood and parquet. Mineral wool is suitable for insulating wooden floors.

Important nuances when working

There are several conditions that must be met in order to properly lay parquet boards:

1. Make a perfectly flat surface. You can use sandpaper or self-leveling compound.
2. Plywood must be protected from water. To check it for moisture, we cover the material with polyvinyl chloride film. If drops or evaporation do not form on it, then the material does not absorb water. If it appears, it must be treated with protective solutions. Now we are waiting for drying.
3. The fastenings must be rigid. You need to press the parquet board tightly to the base.
4. You should select the varnish to cover the parquet board in advance.
5. During the work, problems may arise with sockets and borders. With basic knowledge of construction, you will be able to install parquet without affecting these objects.

Important! Water is the main enemy of such material. High humidity will lead to rot. But excessive dryness will also cause problems. The parquet begins to dry out and crumble.

Installation of parquet boards on plywood: step by step

The work process consists of several stages:

1. We install parallel joists. Large gaps should not be left between the bars. The parquet board should fit tightly. If there is a small gap left, we put a piece of parquet into it, cutting it with a hacksaw.
2. Select 3 control points. We install wooden wedges to create a flat surface.
3. We make holes through the wedges and beams. Self-tapping screws are inserted into them.
4. You can lay the prepared material.
5. The last step is coating. It is recommended to make a varnished surface.
