Parquet size
Parquet is one of the widespread natural coverings, characterized by durability, environmental friendliness and resistance to mechanical stress. But in order to take advantage of the benefits of this material, it is important to choose its installation dimensions correctly.

Parameters of parquet boards
There are different parquet options. but when choosing, you need to understand in detail what parquet boards are available.
Thickness
The dimensions of the parquet, in particular its thickness, are determined by the brand of material used, which traditionally has the following designs:
- Piece parquet in the form of strips equipped with special grooves and ridges has a fixed size of 16 mm in thickness.
- The thickness of inlaid parquet, represented by square panels, can vary from 8 to 12 mm.
- For parquet boards, this parameter varies from 7 to 25 mm.
- And finally, panel parquet (a type of inlaid type) is characterized by an average of 15-30 mm.
Reference! Different models of this floor product mainly differ in the nature of their pattern.
The choice of this parameter depends on a number of factors, the most important of which is the possibility of obtaining a reliable and stable floor covering.
Width
Typical inlaid parquet is available in two versions, having a width of 40 and 60 cm. For the panel variety, these dimensions are 40 and 80 cm, respectively. For piece parquet, made in the form of narrow strips, it can range from 3 to 10 cm.
Attention! The most popular (“running”) size for the width of a piece parquet element is 7 cm.
When purchasing it, you should assume that, at the customer’s request, it is possible to produce non-standard samples. A typical board is represented by products with a width of about 13-21 cm.
Length
The length of the parquet blank is its main parameter, which largely determines the area covered by one element. Therefore, special attention is usually paid to the selection of this indicator. Typical strips have the following designs:
- for average length, standards are set at 28, 35 and 42 cm;
- for long workpieces this figure can reach 49 cm.
For various types of inlaid and panel parquet, the length takes values of 40 and 60 or 40 and 80 cm, respectively. Parquet boards have two standards (200 and 270 cm). The considered indicators must be taken into account when selecting blanks immediately before installing the flooring.
Rules for choosing parquet boards according to parameters
The main criterion for choosing parquet products of this type is the dependence of the stability of the flooring on the thickness of the pieces being laid. When selecting this parameter, the need to grind its surface should also be taken into account.
Important! Relatively thin parquet blanks have to be installed in cases where the thickness of the floor cannot be increased due to the limited height of doorways and thresholds.
In products of the most common sizes (about 13-15 mm thick), a working layer of 4 mm is specially provided, which allows for scraping and sanding floors.Certain types of parquet boards up to 25 mm thick are intended for laying in industrial premises directly along the joists. This type of coating has a working layer of about 6 mm and allows for repeated scraping.
When estimating the length and width of a typical board, it is usually based on the need to cover a certain area with blanks with minimal effort and time. It is this feature of parquet-type products, as well as the ease of installation, that is the reason for the high attractiveness of this method of arranging floors in residential premises.
