Experts consider parquet to be one of the most sophisticated and beautiful floor coverings in existence. It looks chic in any interior and lasts a long time without additional investment. However, such a coating requires quite labor-intensive care, but many housewives, having studied the secrets of proper washing and cleaning, are happy to choose this high-quality material for finishing the floor in the room.

How to properly wash parquet?

It is well known that parquet is afraid of moisture and deformation. But if you have decided to give preference to expensive flooring material, it is better to study the question of What else is there not to love about a natural wooden floor:

• Temperature swings and humidity at elevated levels (over time leads to swelling or drying out of the material);
• rough impact (the surface is easily deformed, chips and scratches remain);
• unpleasant odors (parquet laid in the kitchen perfectly absorbs all odors and over time will begin to give off an unpleasant aroma, spreading it throughout all nearby rooms);
• dust (small particles of dirt and dust can settle in cracks and recesses between the dies, as well as in various uneven floors).

What means and how to wash parquet until it shines?

The frequency of cleaning depends on the room, where the parquet is laid, and the intensity of its use. For example, in a bedroom, wet cleaning of the floor should be carried out no more than twice a month. But in rooms where dozens of people pass during the day, you need to wash the floor every day in the evening so that the floor has time to dry completely overnight and prepare for new mechanical impacts.

Daily cleaning of parquet flooring in any room can be done daily using a vacuum cleaner and a dry cloth. With constant care, the flooring will look great and retain its performance properties for a long time.

Important! Before wet cleaning, you should check the entire surface of the floor for cracks or chips. If there are any, they need to be filled with fine sawdust mixed with the adhesive mass.

Today there are a large number of different parquet care products on the market, they are divided into several groups:

• cleaners (they are aerosols and concentrates, used for washing any parquet, they clean well, without leaving streaks, and are absolutely harmless);
• wax-based mastics (used for varnished and oiled surfaces, the fundamental difference between these products is the method of their application; the mastic will have to be thoroughly rubbed into the surface of the parquet);
• varnishes (synthetically created or water-based products that not only effectively remove dirt, but also create an additional layer of protection against moisture).

At first glance, it may seem that parquet is too difficult to maintain and requires large investments. This is not entirely true; if you carefully monitor the floor covering and carry out timely cleaning with high-quality modern products, it will not require serious time and effort to maintain.

Stains on parquet flooring, how to remove them

Often, various stains and stains may appear on the parquet. Most often, they appear when you try to wipe off existing dirt yourself without the necessary product. They eat into the surface and become very difficult to remove. To properly remove stains, you need to know which product will be the best:

• tea and coffee stains, as well as stains from fruit juice or water (they can be easily removed with a soft microfiber cloth and a weak soda solution);
• greasy stains or stubborn marks from shoes (experts advise gently wiping with gasoline and then rinsing off the composition with soap and water);
• stains from cosmetics or a ballpoint pen (such stains can be easily removed with regular medical alcohol).

In general, with proper regular care of the parquet and constant coating of it with varnish or mastic, cleaning it will not be a problem. All contaminants will be easily removed from the surface.

Basic rules for caring for parquet

Whatever type of parquet is used to finish the floors in the house, it must be carefully monitored and cared for. Only in this case will it last a long time and maintain its beautiful appearance. Proper care requires compliance with a number of basic rules:

• You cannot immediately start washing the varnished floor (after varnishing the slats, wet cleaning should begin no earlier than 2 weeks later);
• wash the stains immediately (it is important to remove fresh stains from the slats immediately, without waiting for the substance to be absorbed into the wood);
• in the corridor, it is necessary to lay a rug on the parquet floor (near the doors where people enter from the street in dirty shoes, a rug is needed that will absorb the bulk of street garbage);
• protective caps and felt pads (to avoid scratching the parquet on furniture legs, you need to put on special stands or make felt pads);
• optimal microclimate (in a room with parquet flooring it is important to maintain a constant temperature and humidity; changes can lead to swelling of the tiles or their drying out);
• dry cleaning (you can wipe the parquet daily only with a dry cloth);
• regularly renew the protective coating (varnishing should be carried out constantly at the required intervals);
• wet cleaning with a special cloth (it is recommended to use soft microfiber cloths, which are thoroughly squeezed out of excess moisture before washing).

Parquet, although more fancy than other materials, still looks very impressive in any room. Therefore, many people prefer beauty and shine. They are willing to spend extra money and time to properly care for the slats and get a luxurious floor in their own apartment.
