What is parquet
Parquet is a small wooden block made from hard and thick wood to provide the flooring with a long period of use. It is environmentally friendly and has a beneficial effect on the human body. At the same time, its beauty in the interior of any style is undeniable.
It is laid piece by piece on the floor, creating unique patterns. The natural texture of wood allows you to create a fresh and original image of the room. However, it is worth noting. That this type of flooring, unlike other popular types of finishes, is expensive. This is due to the absence of synthetic substances in the manufacture of the product; it is completely natural.
Important! Before making a decision on laying parquet, it is worth studying the issue of not only its individual installation, but also its further maintenance during operation, since this point is also very important for the parquet to preserve its natural attractive appearance.
Description, concept
Parquet is wooden lamellas made from natural wood species such as ash, wenge, oak, maple and others.In some cases, compounds of these tree species can be used to achieve a unique texture and give a unique image to the room.
The parquet has the following parameters:
- thickness of the dies (this parameter depends on the manufacturer of the natural coating and varies between 12-22 mm);
- length (depending on the variety, the length of one panel ranges from 15 to 90 cm);
- width (parquet strip width does not exceed 3-9 cm).
All parameters are strictly verified and depend on the specific manufacturer. The dies are made quite thick so that their service life is as long as possible.
Important! Piece parquet or parquet boards must be laid exclusively on a flat surface. Only in this case will the flooring look perfect.
Types, types
There are several types of parquet flooring that are used in interior design:
- piece (it is durable, can be partially repaired and laid in various patterns, this is one of the most popular floor covering options);
- inlaid (this type of material allows you to make a kind of mosaic on the floor from wooden blocks, which will create an unusual and attractive pattern);
- panel board (represents large sheets, approximately 80x80 cm, which are laid in even rows on the floor, they already contain an original design, but they can be supplemented with thin dies to match);
- palace (when assembled, such material is not a beautiful floor, but a real work of art; it is the most expensive of the presented types of parquet);
- massive (made from solid wood, is a solid element, which is quite expensive in price, but this is directly reflected in its performance, such a coating will last a very long time);
- parquet board (represents a long lamella into which several elements have already been fixed by the manufacturer; laying such material is much simpler than piece material).
Depending on the type of parquet chosen, tools and materials for the work are selected. Some varieties can be assembled yourself, having studied the basic rules of this craft. And it is better to entrust expensive and difficult-to-install slats to the hands of experienced specialists who know exactly how to make the floor perfect.
Important! It should be understood that parquet must be maintained in certain conditions; it requires a constant temperature in the room without changes and high humidity. If there are no such conditions in the room, it is better to choose another material for finishing.
Coating features
The main advantages of natural parquet are its naturalness and environmental friendliness. It can be placed in any room, even in children's rooms, without fear for the baby's health. In addition, no material can compare with it in terms of durability; it will serve for many years with proper care and timely repairs.
Parquet boards also have their advantages over the now popular laminate. It is less prone to abrasion and more durable. This is explained by its thickness, which should be taken into account when purchasing if the room where installation is planned already has interior doors.
The material also has its drawbacks. The most important of them is the high cost.In addition, parquet requires careful care and proper washing using special products. Formed stains, darkening and marks must be removed in a timely manner. Parquet also requires regular updating, sanding and varnishing. Heavy furniture or sharp objects can easily cause scratches on the board that will be difficult to remove on your own.
