Types of linoleum

There are several variations of linoleum on sale, suitable for use when exposed to adverse factors:

1. Homogeneous. Single-layer and homogeneous composition. Withstands heavy weight loads, fire-resistant, resistant to humidity and chemicals. Frost-resistant.
2. Heterogeneous. Consists of several layers. The base is foamed PVC. This is followed by: durable fiberglass to impart protective properties, a layer with a pattern, and a wear-resistant layer. It has good noise and heat insulating properties, and is resistant to chemical reagents. In the cold it becomes hard and can crack or warp. But now a special frost-resistant heterogeneous material is being produced.
3. Relin. It also consists of several layers. The base is a rubber layer. Used for flooring various areas, including sports and medical ones. Wear-resistant, moisture-resistant, elastic.But at low temperatures it can become brittle. In addition, Relin is not recommended for use on glazed balconies: it can be toxic due to its composition.

How to choose?

When choosing, you should take into account the glazing of the balcony, insulation of the walls and floor. The less security there is in all respects, the more careful the choice of material must be: choose the most unpretentious one.

ATTENTION: Warm floors cannot be laid under the linoleum itself. This will cause the flooring to deform after a short period of time.

For an open balcony, it is better to choose a rough coating to prevent slipping. You need to pay attention to the presence of irregularities and delaminations in the new linoleum. This is due to a manufacturing defect or improper storage. This material will not last long.
