How to hang a rug without nails?
Of course, the first idea that comes to mind is to hang the carpet on the wall the old-fashioned way using a hammer and nails. However, it is worth paying attention to other ways to do this. The fact is that nails spoil the material and leave holes in the wall at the attachment points. This approach can only be used if the product is hung for a long time or the walls have an additional panel made of plywood, plasterboard or any other removable material that you would not mind replacing if necessary.
There are other ways to strengthen the carpet on the wall, allowing you to maintain its integrity, not spoil the covering and easily remove the product if necessary. We will look at some of them in more detail.
The method of hanging using special brackets is as follows:
- Roll the roll from the bottom edge to the top for convenience.
- Gradually unwind it and nail it evenly on both sides with staples using a special furniture gun.
- The distance between the brackets is approximately 10-15 cm. Before each fixation, straighten and stretch the surface.
- Securely fix the top part and check the fastening strength.
The next option can be done using wire.
- Stretch the wire from one edge of the wall to the other. Secure the ends of the wire into dowels.
- Attach rings to the tapestry at a distance of 15 cm.
- Thread the rings onto the wire.
- Spread the surface evenly and lightly iron it if necessary.
Using adhesive bases for retention:
- Prepare sheets of plywood, cardboard, foam plastic, and chipboard in advance.
- Cut out identical shapes from them.
- Apply glue to the surface and glue them to the wall.
- Install hooks or drive nails along the top edge of each piece.
- Hang the rug on these hooks using rings or special sewn loops.
Another option is to use a cornice. Such devices are sold in special stores; their design and fastening principle are no different from ordinary curtain rods. The carpet is also secured, after which the uniformity of its distribution is checked and adjusted.
There are other installation methods. The most important and important condition is the calculation of weight, number of fasteners and occupied space.
How to hang a carpet with nails?
If you didn’t like any of the previously discussed methods and you still think the method of nailing carpets to the wall is the best, we will give some recommendations and consider possible implementation options.
- The classic method involves standard nailing with a hammer along the entire perimeter. Here you should carefully hammer in the caps and do not try to drown them in the product, otherwise a rupture may occur. You should also carefully calculate the distance between adjacent nails and stretch the surface of the coating well along the wall so that it evenly fills the space and does not create waves. This method is considered rough and if the carpet is repositioned or removed, many holes will remain in its place.
- The second option is more modern and allows you to save material through the use of support rings. But here, too, you can’t do without nails. The method is quite simple to implement.First, you need to nail down a wooden or metal strip. After this, drive nails into it at a distance of 10 cm between them, but do not drive them in completely. Using the number of nails, sew the same number of rings to the top of the carpet. The final step is to thread the rings onto the protruding parts of the nails. Everything is ready, the beautiful design will please the eye. In case of transfer, the structure can be easily removed.
ADVICE: Use this method only in extreme cases, if there is no choice of other fasteners. This option can ruin the appearance of the product and the room as a whole.
