White carpet cleaners
Among the chemical products, the most effective in performing carpet cleaning tasks are the Prochem and Chemspec brands; they are used by professional cleaning companies, but, of course, their cost is appropriate. A more economical and familiar option to most is Vanish.
In addition, there are many methods of cleaning with improvised means, using folk recipes.
How to properly clean white carpet at home
To rid carpets of dust, vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters and steamers are the fastest and most convenient way to remove dust.
Regarding the above-mentioned folk recipes, we recommend that you try the following:
- Add four tablespoons of vinegar, one tablespoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of wool care product to a glass of water. Mix and apply to the carpet using a spray bottle or a soft brush, then remove the mixture with a cloth dampened with clean water.
- Sprinkle any type of salt onto the carpet, paying special attention to the dirtier areas. After half an hour, sweep the carpet and go over it with a vacuum cleaner.
- Dissolve a small amount of soap in water and add a little gasoline, then soak sawdust in the resulting solution, sprinkle it on the coating and leave for about half a day or overnight. Remove dried sawdust that has absorbed all the dirt with a broom and vacuum cleaner.
- Grate a whole piece of laundry soap and mix with 500 grams of starch. Spread the dry mixture evenly over the entire surface, then sweep.
- In winter, ordinary snow can be an excellent help - take the carpet outside, sprinkle it with snow, then sweep it away with a broom and shake it well.
- If it is possible to leave the room in which the coating is located for a day without people, wipe it with a mixture of water and two tablespoons of ammonia (such cleaning should be superficial, without over-wetting), and then ventilate for 24 hours.
- Chop the potatoes and soak them briefly in water. Treat the surface with the resulting solution, then after an hour, use a vacuum cleaner.
ATTENTION! If you are using a stain remover, test it on an inconspicuous part of the carpet, such as hidden under furniture.
Removing stains from white carpet
If you spill something on a white surface, the following methods will help you, each of which depends on the type of stain:
- Contaminants from liquids containing lemon or berry juice, alcohol, milk, latex paint, any sauces or gelatin are removed with the following solution: add a quarter teaspoon of detergent without bleach or vinegar to a liter of water, mix everything thoroughly. Apply it to the contaminated area, then wipe with a sponge and remove excess moisture with paper napkins.
- More difficult cases, including blood, chocolate, coffee, wine, tea, vomit or mustard, are rubbed off with a mixture of 1 tsp. ammonia per 250 ml of water. The resulting mixture is applied using a sprayer and then removed.
- If oil, wax or any other greasy substance has been spilled on the carpet, cover the stain with a paper towel and heat the top slightly with an iron. You can remove the napkin after the heated fat has been absorbed into the paper.
- The glue is removed with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol.
- Sticky substances such as wax and resin can be removed as follows: apply an ice cube to them, and after they have hardened, chip them off with any sharp object, after which all that remains is to vacuum them and wipe them with a damp cloth.
- If there is a urine stain left on the surface, it is necessary to remove not only it, but also the smell, so you will need to use two solutions. First, spray on a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar and rinse thoroughly. After this, the same sequence of actions is performed with a soap solution.
Do not use too much force when scrubbing the stain, this may allow it to penetrate deep into the coating or damage the pile!
