Combining two different floor coverings

Is it possible to combine two different types of flooring in an interesting and beautiful way in one room or at the transition of rooms? This is all quite real. There are various materials that can solve the issue of hiding joints.

It is necessary to close the joint. First of all, it will look much more attractive, and secondly, debris and dust will not accumulate in the seam, which will not be so easy to remove later. Based on this, when combining two different floor coverings, be sure to remember to form the seam correctly.

It is easiest to connect different materials if they are located on the same level. Of course, if the decorative finishing is done on a rough surface, then you cannot avoid a difference in the height of the base.

• Heat the decorative part in warm water. 
• Place the decorative element onto the fastening profile and snap it into place.

• Mark the boundaries of the joint. 
• Give the profile the desired shape. 
• Lay the tiles along the joint line. 
• Place the elements at the same time. It must be inserted into the existing groove. 

How to work with glue 

If you decide not to use any connecting elements, then marking the seam must be done carefully and carefully. When working with straight joints, you should follow the rule: laying tiles should start from the seam, this will prevent the need to trim it at the joint. 

When making complex patterns, it makes no difference which side the joining starts from, because in any case it will be necessary to trim the material. First of all, do the markings; it will be better if there are no small elements left on the edges. 

Algorithm of your actions: 

• Glue the elements leaving the edge part. 
• Roll out the linoleum and lay it with a slight overlap on the tile. 
• Using the previously prepared template, mark the joint location and trim the linoleum. 
• The tiles are laid on a dry base, and markings are made relative to the contour of the linoleum. 
• Install with glue. 
• When the glue dries, seal the joints with sealant. 

IMPORTANT. The joint must be strong, because aesthetics, as well as the quality of sound and heat insulation, depend on it.
