In deep models you can wash hair and small pets, and wash underwear. Flat ones are only suitable for washing your face, washing your hands, brushing your teeth and shaving.

By material

The most popular are glazed sanitary ware and sanitary porcelain. Glass sinks – the choice of adherents of modern styles in design. They are original, spectacular, and “lighten” the interior, but that’s where their advantages end. Low impact resistance makes them dangerous for children, and not everyone is ready for the complex care of a transparent surface that reveals all the stains and drips. Their prices are significantly higher.

Metal sinks are much less common. They are stronger than ceramic and, especially, glass, and are resistant to abrasion and cleaning agents. However, they make noise when the tap is turned on, and salt stains are visible on the surface.

Stone wash basins look good in rustic and eco styles. Significant advantages are increased reliability and natural material. The disadvantages include very heavy weight and high cost.

Wood modifications can be called exclusive. Their advantages are environmental friendliness and beauty, disadvantages are the need for regular (every 2-4 years) surface treatment with special means to prevent decay.

By location in the room

May be wall and corner. The first variety is more common, although it is recommended for large rooms. The second takes up less space, so it is preferable for small bathrooms. Combines effectively with other corner sanitary ware models (bathtub, shower).

By installation method

Floor-mounted sink (on a pedestal “tulip” or solid) looks stylish, and also allows you to hide the siphon leading to the drain in the “leg”.The downside is that it is inconvenient for tall people because it is not height adjustable.

Built-in or overhead as if it is part of the furniture, inside of which there are not only all communications, but also drawers and shelves for necessary and useful little things (towels, soap and toiletries, combs, detergents and other hygiene products).

Mounted model visually saves space; it can even be installed above a washing machine. It is advisable to choose a flat siphon for it.

By the way! When choosing a model, you need to take into account the features of water pipes. If they are not hidden in the wall, it is unlikely that you will be able to install a wall-mounted faucet and, accordingly, a wall-hung sink, since it does not have holes for horizontal installation of the faucet.
