How many chairs should there be in the kitchen?
Kitchen furniture consists of several important components. In addition to numerous closets and a work area, this part of the house is dominated by a table and chairs. The latter items are chosen most often. After all, they do not take up much space, they are easy to arrange and move.
And how many chairs there should ideally be in the kitchen, we need to understand in more detail.

What determines the number of chairs in the kitchen?
There are several parameters by which the interior of a room is formed. In accordance with these requirements, it will not be difficult to select the number of seats in any kitchen.
Ergonomics and room area
If the dimensions of the room allow you to place a large dining table in it, then there should be enough chairs to beautifully distribute them around it. Are you planning to host many guests? Then the seats can be located close to each other with a certain interval, so that it is convenient to sit down and stand up.
If only the family gathers around a bulky table, chairs should be placed at large intervals on each side, but maintaining symmetry.
Important! If the area of the apartment allows you to allocate at least part of the space for the temporary arrangement of furniture, then some chairs can be placed in a row along the wall in another room.
If necessary, additional seats can be quickly moved to accommodate a banquet.
Dining table location
The number of seats should also be calculated based on the location of the table. If it is leaning against the wall on one or both sides, then there simply won’t be room for more than 3-4 seats next to it. The same thing applies if the table is located in a niche.
Important! Not only the location matters, but also the shape of the tabletop. Fewer people will sit on a round surface than on a square one.
Number of people at the table
Ideally, each family member should have their own place at the table. Therefore, chairs for the kitchen are purchased according to the number of people living in the house.
The exception is small rooms where the whole family simply cannot gather at the same time. Then it would be rational to reduce the number of seats by half in order to accommodate people at the table in turn.
Tips for determining the number of chairs
There are several tricks that will help you find the perfect balance between the required number of furniture, the features of the room and other nuances.
- You can give preference to chairs of a certain shape, which, if necessary, fit tightly on top of each other, forming a “pyramid”. This compact design tucks away into a far corner of the house or fits into a closet for quick reappearance.
- In order to save space, it is wise to purchase high bar models without a back. They have two disadvantages: they fit a certain interior and are inconvenient during long family dinners.
- Do you value comfort and thoroughness in everything, and at the same time, no more than three people live in the house? Buy furniture with a high back and armrests. There is room for a pair of such “chairs” even in a modest-sized kitchen.
- In small rooms, every centimeter is saved, and drawers with dishes and other utensils are located right up to the ceiling. When purchasing chairs, you can combine two functions in them - a comfortable seat and a stepladder. Special models are stable and have several crossbars between the legs, arranged like a ladder.
- The functionality of modern furniture is combined with original design, which takes on whimsical shapes. So you can find chairs on one leg, narrow with flared seats, on a C-shaped bent base. They fit tightly together without effort, saving space. But even classic designs can be arranged in such a way that there is enough space for everyone, without the kitchen turning into a cluttered junk shop.
