If you want to save a lot and have at least minimal carpentry skills, then you can do everything completely yourself. But the savings should be reasonable, so you need to decide what to make the table from.

Frame material

Chipboard is the cheapest option.It is light and quite durable, but if mistakes are made at the design and assembly stages, it will not forgive a mistake. The reason is that it is a rather fragile material. Chips formed during slicing are easy to disguise. But distortions when drilling holes for fasteners will certainly affect the service life - the table will quickly become loose and require repair or partial replacement of structural elements.

Although MDF and solid wood are somewhat more expensive, they benefit in this regard. They “forgive” minor defects without losing the final build quality. But when working they will require more specialized tools. If the choice falls on wood, then it is recommended to select species that are easy to process. The best option is pine: it weighs little, is also inexpensive, and is not “capricious.”

ATTENTION! To make the back wall and bottom of the drawers, you can choose plywood or fiberboard. There is no fundamental difference in the quality of materials and ease of processing. As is the price.

What else is needed to make a dressing table?

For a strong connection of structural elements, duplicate fastening is recommended. The most common option: dowels or minifixes + euroscrew. All types of fasteners are sold at any hardware store, so there should be no problems with purchasing them. The only clarification regarding the dowels is that connecting them will require monitoring the fit of the parts. And for this you will need either a rubber hammer or a regular one paired with a shock-absorbing pad (so that when “adjusting” it does not damage the surface of the elements).

Then it all depends on the design features:

• if drawers are planned, guides will be needed;
• It is recommended to strengthen the shelves with furniture corners;
• when working with chipboard, an end edge is useful;
• To sand wood, you need sandpaper.

The tools must include:

• drill with a set of attachments;
• jigsaw for cutting slabs;
• level and square;
• tape measure and pencil;
• screwdrivers.

How to make a dressing table with your own hands: drawings and diagrams

The design of such furniture largely depends on the area that can be allocated for it and the needs of the owner. For some, a small wall variation or a classic table complemented by shelves is enough. For others, a prerequisite will be an abundance of drawers in which they can organize a large arsenal of beauty.

Having decided on these parameters, we begin to create a schematic image of the dressing table. At first, the sketch reflects only the design solution, then marks with dimensions are applied to it. The last stage of planning is the “finishing” version, indicating the parameters of all structural elements. Based on this, you can begin to calculate the required amount of materials.

Without a mirror

When making a simplified model of a dressing table, it is necessary to calculate the options for placing a mirror. If the tabletop version is to be used, the tabletop should be made quite spacious. The recommended depth is at least 50 cm, with a width exceeding 60 cm. To do this, the project includes a niche with a width of about 50 cm and a height calculated by the formula: the distance from the floor to the top of the user’s kneecap + 10–15 cm.

With a mirror

It is preferable to install the mirror on hinges, but this is a rather labor-intensive process that requires certain skills. When making a dressing table yourself, it is either fixed on a panel that parallels the role of the back wall (the simplest installation option), or on a folding tabletop. The second method is more practical, since transformable furniture is also universal.

For girl

For young beauties, it is preferable to build compact and stable versions of dressing tables. Additional charm can be added to the design with a shaped overlay on the mirror.

To make it you will need whatman paper and a sheet of plywood. First, the required shape is drawn on paper, cut out and then used as a template for transferring the pattern.
