It is important to buy all the necessary materials, prepare the tools and decide on the dimensions of the structure. What you need to make your own table

First of all, let's look at what tool you might need:

• a hacksaw with wide teeth for wood;
• sandpaper, rasp;
• mallet - rubber hammer;

• miter box;

• metal scissors, if aluminum profiles are to be used;

• jigsaw - will greatly facilitate the work of sawing boards and bars.

If you plan to paint the table or cover it with stain and varnish, then it is advisable to have painting tools on hand - rollers, brushes.

Once the tool is assembled, you can begin preparing the material:

• sheets of plywood with a thickness of 12 mm - they are strong, durable, practical, working with this material is much easier when arranging a tabletop than with a board or furniture panel;
• block 5x5 cm;
• boards, if it is not possible to buy plywood;
• furniture corners and fasteners;
• door hinges;
• stain, paint or varnish - depending on what kind of finish is intended.

How to make a folding table with an emphasis on hinges

This is one of the simplest designs that can be assembled in 2-4 hours. All parts are cut out from a piece of plywood or chipboard. We will need:

• table top;
• bar;
• panel that will be attached to the wall;
• support stand for triangular table top.

There are several options for manufacturing this model of folding table:

• the stand can be built from a board, but you need to understand that all components must fit perfectly together in size;
• use bars as support material;
• cut a triangular piece from a single sheet of plywood.

Instructions for performing the process are as follows:

1. Apply markings to a sheet of plywood. It is better to make the tabletop semicircular, without sharp corners. To do this, an improvised compass is constructed from a plank, which is used to form a semicircle of the required diameter.
2. Using a jigsaw, cut out the element and process the edges until perfectly smooth - for this, use sandpaper or a sander, if available.
3. The next step is to cut out a support triangle of a certain parameter. If desired, you can decorate it by drilling several round holes of different diameters. For this process you will need a drill bit attachment.
4. Now you need to prepare a strip that will be attached to the wall. The tabletop and triangle will subsequently be attached to this element. The panel should be processed and refined.
5. If you plan to mount the tabletop on piano hinges, then you need to cut the element to the required length using a hacksaw.
6. Decorate all prepared elements by pre-treating them with an antiseptic and wood primer.
7. Try on all the elements and mark them.
8. Then you need to screw the wall panel using dowel nails, be sure to check the level of the horizon.
9. Attach a triangular element to the wall panel using butterfly hinges.
10. The last step is to mount the table top onto the piano hinge.

The table is ready for use. Depending on the material used, the folded table will protrude from the wall by its thickness.

How to make a rectangular table with a folding mechanism

This model is much more complex, so before starting assembly, you should make a detailed drawing with all dimensions. When folded, such a table will protrude from the wall by about 6 cm.

The work is carried out as follows:

1. Cut out all the parts according to the drawings.
2. Remove all corners and process until smooth.
3. Try on all the details and decorate all the elements.
4. Place the components on the lower tabletop to make markings.
5. Now it's time to assemble the table. Before twisting, each element should be well coated with wood glue at the joints.
6. Once the structure is ready, it can be mounted on the wall and the folding mechanism can be checked for functionality.

IMPORTANT! When assembling this structure, you need to be very careful; the table elements should be fastened level to obtain a flat horizontal surface.

Making a table with a folding stand

This is a rather large structure when unfolded, so before installing it you should take all the necessary measurements. When folded, the table will protrude 18 cm from the wall surface. Prepare the elements:

• stands for legs – 4 pcs.;
• jumpers connecting the legs – 4 pcs.;
• mounting rail – 1 pc.;
• table top – 1 piece;
• butterfly loops;
• support corners – 2 pcs.

The assembly algorithm is as follows:

1. Prepare 8 elements from the block - 4 legs and 4 crossbars.
2. You can connect the elements using dowels, which are pre-lubricated with wood glue into 2 frames.
3. Connect the resulting frames together with furniture hinges; you will need 2 of them.
4. Then a support block is screwed to the structure using hinges, which is subsequently secured to the wall with a dowel using nails.
5. As soon as everything is ready, support triangles should be attached to the wall on 2 sides of the structure, and the joints should be coated with wood glue.
6. Cut the tabletop from the selected material. Round the corners on one side and sand them down.
7. Using hinges, attach a strip to the tabletop that will cover the support mechanism.
8. Place the finished structure on the support corners and secure with self-tapping screws.
9. Decorate the product by pre-treating it with special compounds to increase wear resistance and water resistance.

The table is ready, you can check the mechanism and decorate the product to your liking.
