DIY bathroom cabinet

Every home probably has a wall-mounted bathroom cabinet, either made by hand or purchased in a store. This piece of furniture is very useful to put everything you need in it and distribute it on each shelf. For example, placing a cabinet in the bathroom will be an ideal option for storing bathroom accessories.

But not every store can provide you with an item that is suitable in size, color and material. However, there is always the opportunity to make a cabinet yourself; it will satisfy your desires.

What materials can be used to make a wall cabinet for a bathroom?

wall cabinet in the bathroomTo create a floor-standing bathroom cabinet with your own hands, you need to understand that it will constantly be influenced by changes in temperature and amount of moisture. There are several examples of what it may consist of.

  1. You can use regular planed boards, but you will have to coat them with a special varnish upon completion of the work. This will prevent delamination.
  2. You can simply purchase MDF and chipboard. Both materials have a dense structure, thanks to which they can serve at home for a long time. Often such panels are made with high moisture resistance.
  3. Plastic pieces of furniture are quite light and cheap in price. But they have a rather fragile structure, which is why they cannot withstand a lot of weight.
  4. If you are an experienced craftsman and you have special equipment, then you can make a stone or glass cabinet for the bathroom. Beginners should not take such materials, as they are difficult to work with.

Do not forget about the basic set of tools: a screwdriver or drill, self-tapping screws, a knife, a tape measure, the necessary fittings, paint, a brush or a roller.

Product assembly features

Features of assembling a bathroom cabinetFirst of all, you need to make a drawing of the room and decide where the wall cabinet will be located. Having measured the parameters of the room, you can build on them in creating accurate measurements of furniture.

  1. Use a jigsaw to make cabinet parts, or order them from a craftsman if you can’t purchase a tool.
  2. Use a drill to make holes in the sides, top and bottom of the product. If you are going to make shelves, then mark in advance where they will be attached on the sides of the cabinet. Then also make holes and insert screws into them.
  3. Then secure all parts of the cabinet with screws or self-tapping screws.
  4. Measure the diagonals of the furniture for the back wall.
  5. Take a thin sheet of fiberboard, which is much thinner than the structure, and secure it with metal loops on top at the corners. It is on them that the cabinet will hang.
  6. The doors are attached last. They are fixed using metal canopies for furniture. Use a screwdriver to adjust the position so that the doors close tightly.
  7. Make armholes for the handles, insert self-tapping screws from the inside, put on the fittings and adjust with a screwdriver.
  8. Finally, install the shelf on the screws and check the functionality of the doors.

How to make a rotating bathroom cabinet

rotating bathroom cabinetThis type of furniture will probably require more effort. You will have to make several boxes of any height from MDF or chipboard materials. Next, use a screwdriver to make a hole in the center from the bottom, except for the bottom drawer, and from the top, except for the top one.

Pass them in order through the bolts, which are then tightened with a nut and spacer. At the corners of the lowest shelf, holes are cut for the wheels at a distance of two centimeters from the edge of the corner on each side. Then the wheels are screwed tightly and the cabinet is placed in its normal position.

Thus, creating any type of cabinet will be possible for you if you have patience and the process goes through in a good mood.
