My husband made me a convenient place for needlework - a closet-room
I do various types of needlework: I sew, weave with beads, make boxes and decorate them using the decoupage technique. I've needed a place for handicrafts for a long time. And then my husband jumped in and made me a whole closet-room! Today I will tell you about the process.

Where was everything stored before?
It is clear that I have a whole bunch of different devices, things, beads, pieces of paper, rags, threads and the like.
To store all my “wealth” I use containers, jars of mayonnaise, sour cream and cheese, regular bags, cardboard boxes and much more that can accommodate a piece of fabric, a ball of thread, beads, beads and accessories.
And until recently, I kept all this in closets (and we have two of them at home), bedside tables, and on the mezzanine. The main problem was not even in storage, but in finding – where and what is stored. When I was going to sew a new thing or make a bracelet, I started shaking out all my treasures. Of course, there was no more order in the house after that.
The husband swore, saying, keep your rubbish somewhere in one place. I would be glad. Yes, there is not enough space. And then he decided to make life easier for me and himself at the same time. And he made a whole room for handicrafts out of the closet.
Creating a room
It’s not clear what this cabinet is for—either a pantry or a dressing room. At first there was an option to use a regular three-door wardrobe for my “handicraft” room. But we thought about it and decided that we didn’t particularly need a storage room, and therefore we could use it for more useful purposes.
Repair
First of all, the closet was renovated. We stored various household equipment, buckets, rags, and trash in it. In general, everything that would be a pity to throw away (it might come in handy), but was never used. My husband, a determined man, despite my sighs of regret and gasps, threw away broken mops, loose brooms and torn rags.
Then the “room” was renovated - they hung wallpaper and painted the doors from the inside. And the husband set about decorating the handicraft corner.
We kept old furniture at the dacha. We didn't use it, but it would be a shame to throw it away. So it came in handy. Not all of it, of course, but only a desk and a pencil case. Although some parts from the old sideboard came in handy, from which my husband made separate drawers instead of “bedside tables.”
First of all, the boxes were made to size. Then my husband attached the guides. By the way, I don’t like the modern metal ones with wheels. I somehow got used to ordinary wooden ones. And the new ones break quickly - then you can’t close the drawer. Therefore, the guides were made of slats.
Then all surfaces were sanded, painted and varnished, and new hardware was attached to the drawers. It turned out modern and stylish. Then we set to work on the situation.
Filling
First, the desk and chest of drawers went into the closet. They fit perfectly in my closet. A stool fits very well under the tabletop. By the way, a chair with a backrest fits perfectly here, but it’s not comfortable for me to sit on. That's why I chose a stool with height adjustment.
A sewing machine and a netbook fit on the tabletop. I sometimes “spy” on others. And in general, I like to do handicrafts while watching some TV series.
Then it was time for the shelves.Since we needed space above the table, there was no question of any shelving (as I dreamed of). Therefore, one long shelf was made for boxes and large containers, and two smaller ones on the side for various small items. The shelves are made of wooden boards, also sanded, painted to match the table and chest of drawers and varnished. I was still worried that something might fall from the lower shelves, but everything fit perfectly.
If anyone does needlework, they will understand what I mean: how difficult it is to store ribbons without them getting wrinkled or unraveling. For this purpose, my husband attached holders for rolls to the doors themselves. Well, you've probably seen these in the store. These are the ones I now have on every door. I also used these holders to hang organizers for small items that I use all the time.
Below are rolls of paper, which I use to create boxes, cards, bags, boxes, and so on.
The same holder is attached to the wall above the table. There are also various organizers hanging on it. Craftswomen will understand me - there are never too many little things, and even more so, places to store them.
On the other door, besides the holders, a surprise awaited me - a real chalk board. I can’t imagine where her husband got it. But now you can immediately sketch models and erase them if you don’t like something. In sight and sizes needed when sewing clothes.
An important component of a needlewoman’s room is light. My husband made me two lamps - one suspended under the ceiling for general lighting of the room, and the second a table lamp. You simply cannot do without it when working with small details - beads, beads, rhinestones. There is no great need for it when sewing, since the machine has its own backlight.
