How to clean up your wardrobe
Perhaps, a situation has arisen in everyone’s life when it’s time to leave the house, but there is nothing to wear. Despite the fact that there is a closet full of clothes. Instead of spending a few minutes choosing a kit, you have to spend a good half hour and a lot of nerves. It's wrinkled, there's a hole here, and where did your favorite cardigan go? If such cases occur to you often, then it’s time to put things in order in your wardrobe.

We sort out the wardrobe
Interestingly, the more household items there are, the less of them are actually used. Unnecessary rags steal space from needed ones, and we simply forget about them. The first thing you need to do is understand what you have, in what quantity and condition. Next we do a general cleaning. We take out all the contents of the cabinet and lay it out in plain sight.
Getting rid of trash
Let's divide everything into three categories: throw it away, give it away, sell it. You can safely throw away:
- The rags are unsightly: faded, with pellets, which cannot be repaired.
- What you no longer liked is already quite worn out.
- Which has long gone out of fashion.
Items that can be given:
- In good condition, but not used.
- What has become too small or too big for you.
- Single items for which there is no pair that can be combined with this clothing.
Advice! If you like a single blouse or skirt, make a note so that you know what to buy the next time you go to the store. This way you will save money on a new set, and your favorite item will find its pair.
Items that can be sold:
- Expensive branded models that are not worn.
- Evening dress, worn once to a friend's wedding. The same can be applied to my husband’s expensive suit, which he is unlikely to wear again.
Advice! If you are in doubt about which category to classify this or that utensil, and whether it is worth parting with it, put it in a separate bag and put it away. If you haven’t thought about it once during the year, you don’t need it!
Should not be in the wardrobe:
- Unloved and unused things.
- Something that doesn't fit well.
- A product that does not match other wardrobe items.
- What doesn't suit your style.
How to sort things correctly
Having gotten rid of the excess, you can start organizing your favorite and necessary clothes. Here we will be helped by a variety of devices and organizers - hangers, holders for bags, belts and accessories.
How to use hangers wisely
The most valuable thing for us is free space, so we will choose what would meet the needs of functionality and save space:
- Wooden hangers. Their advantages are that they hold large clothes well: jackets, coats, fur coats. But for small things they take up too much space.
- Plastic hangers. Ideal for thin fabrics. They are very functional and do not take up much space. There are silicone pads for silk sliding fabrics.
- Wire hangers. This is perhaps the worst option for hangers. Their huge disadvantage is the ability to terribly stretch clothes due to their thinness. They are suitable, perhaps, for carrying new clothes from the store to your home.
There are many other models. For example, trouser hangers with clothespins or several bars. They are quite functional and do a good job of organizing space in the closet.
Also hangers with fabric or leather covering. But this luxury is completely impractical, unless instead of a wardrobe you have a full-fledged dressing room.
The hangers must be the right size, otherwise “ears” will appear on the clothes - on the sleeves if the hanger is large, or on the shoulders when it is too small.
Knitwear and knitted wool products are easily deformed, so they should not be stored hanging.
What to put in boxes
Having organized everything on the hangers, let's start putting things in order on the shelves and drawers. The main rule when choosing clothes is that all of it should be visible. You can fold the laundry in neat piles, or use the Japanese vertical folding method. This is very convenient for storing socks, stockings, tights and underwear.
We will hang the bags on internal hooks or place them in special hanging organizers.
Belts, ties and scarves can be placed in drawers with compartments, as well as hung on hooks or special holders. The same goes for costume jewelry.
Now you’re not afraid to open the wardrobe again for fear that the contents will fall out. We have done a good job, all that remains is to maintain order, which is not difficult to do when everything is properly organized. And remember that you don’t need to accumulate junk that disguises itself as necessary things.
