Types of racks

Racks are designed to accommodate and store various items indoors. They are widely used both in everyday life and in industry. Warehouses of finished or raw materials, library and archival storage facilities, equipment of retail outlets and stores - a small list of areas of their use.

What types of racks are there?

Shelving structures are good because they increase the density of stored goods without taking up all the free space in the room. They are also varied; each of them is convenient for placing a certain type of object.

Shelf

Most often, shelf shelving systems are used. The frame of the structure consists of aluminum or steel alloys, and the shelves are made of metal or wooden materials. Sections are designed for storing goods in any packaging. The shelves are made of high-strength materials, so they can withstand heavy weight. They can be serviced manually, without additional equipment. Thanks to the design, any product can be conveniently picked up or swapped with another.

Shelving racks are used in various areas, but they are most widespread in trade.

Frontal

Frontal racks are the most versatile, since cargo of various sizes and weights can be stored on pallets.Also, products with the widest range of products can be stored on pallets, especially FIN (1200x1000x150 mm), EURO (1200x800x150 mm). The section consists of a multi-tiered structure; metal is usually used in its creation. Racks and shelves of this system are cheap to produce and easy to use. Such racking structures allow you to store various goods, providing easy access to them. At the same time, the storage system itself is not disrupted.

Important! Despite the advantages, frontal shelving has one significant drawback. To gain access to items laid out in sections, it is necessary to leave large spaces between the rows, which is inconvenient in a small room.

Console

Cantilever racks are designed for storing long cargo, such as beams, pipes, machine bodies and various pieces of furniture. The frame of the structure consists of metal, with double-sided or single-sided consoles for storing goods. It also does not have a front row of racks, which makes it easier to access the placed products. Often consoles are equipped with special pipe stops with fall protection. Console systems are most often used in metal warehouses and production facilities.

Important! Cantilever ones differ from other types of racking structures, which do not require additional equipment for loading goods. Due to the long shape, it is already necessary to use a forklift to place the load on the pallet.

Printed

Products of the same type, without any shelf life restrictions, can be conveniently stored in packed shelving systems. Most often they are used in manufacturing plants and long-term storage warehouses.The structure consists of cross beams and vertical frames, installed in blocks. The height of the frames, as well as the distance between the beams, can be adjusted to suit the specific type of product being stored. To place goods, you need to use additional equipment, for example, forklifts that can drive deep into the rack. Please note that the product that was placed first on the shelves will be shipped last. They also save a lot of space because there are no aisles between the racks.

Special

Special racks are used to store non-standard types of goods that have a special shape, for example, wine bottles. Often, such racks are produced by the manufacturer to order, on an individual basis, when it is impossible to place goods on ordinary shelves, for example, tires or reels of wires.

Gravitational

Roller tracks are installed on the shelves of the gravity rack. With their help, the load moves at an angle. Once the product is placed on the conveyor, it travels to the unloading area, where it is automatically stopped using brake rollers. After unloading, a new pallet takes the place of the old pallet. There are no aisles between rows, so storage space can be used more efficiently. Items with a limited shelf life are most conveniently stored on gravity racking systems. They are the most convenient because they do not require the intervention of workers, but at the same time they are the most expensive due to the automation of the process.

Mobile

Mobile shelving is the most advanced type, which is easy to use and overall compact.The design consists of two parts, which are connected using a platform. The platforms move on special rails. This allows you to economically use excess space in the room, because to access a certain product, you need to open closed rows, creating one passage. Such racking systems are widely used in the construction of archives and warehouses. The movement of such racks can be carried out manually or automatically, using special mechanisms. The system is very convenient and effective, but, like gravity racks, it is quite expensive.
