You can make the latter yourself using various materials. It’s interesting and exciting, because you can turn your wildest ideas into reality. How to make a bed for dolls with your own hands and is it really that simple?

Making a bed for dolls yourself

A doll's crib can be made from almost any material, with paper, wood and cardboard structures being the most common. Various shoe boxes and small household appliances are perfect for this, and they are also quite durable. Beds can be either single, double, triple or bunk, but all of them must meet the following criteria:

• drawing each detail in compliance with the selected proportions;
• The dimensions of the crib should be 6–7 cm larger than the doll’s height.

ADVICE.Before starting work, it is recommended to draw a mock-up of the future product on paper, indicating all the dimensions and places where the parts will be glued together. This will greatly simplify the task and save you a lot of time.

Choosing material for future furniture

The material should be selected based on the size of the doll, as well as the number of interior items. If you only want to make a bed, then it is acceptable to use simple and not very durable materials, but if you want a set of furniture, then it is better to choose something stronger and more durable. The same applies to products that small children will play with - they must be strong and reliable.

In addition to the “construction” material itself, you will need: scissors, a stapler and staples, pencils, screws and a screwdriver, glue, colored markers, fabric, paint. The easiest way to make a mattress is from foam rubber, and you can also sew full-fledged bed linen from fabric.

Cardboard cribs are the most popular, due to the prevalence of the material. The boxes are cut into individual elements, after which:

1. Markings are made with a pencil, taking into account the sizes of future elements.
2. The parts are cut out and then glued into a single structure.
3. The crib is decorated using pieces of white sheets, which are pre-coated with glue.
4. After sealing all the joints, beautiful colorful paper is glued to the furniture.

Plywood crib

Plywood has sufficient strength and an affordable price; products made from it are easy to maintain and assemble. Making a crib takes place in several steps:

1. All elements are applied exactly to size on a sheet of paper, cut out, and then transferred to plywood and cut out.
2. The finished fragments are sanded, painted in the desired colors and dried, after which they are assembled into a single structure.

NOTE. Glue is first applied to the joints, which should be allowed to dry slightly, and then the parts are fastened and pressed with force for a few seconds.

Plywood opens up wide possibilities for decoration. In addition to simple coloring, patterns can be burned, sawed, engraved, painted, etc.

We use matchboxes

In addition to several matchboxes, you will need colored paper. The boxes are glued together, they are placed vertically on the sides, forming backs, and then covered with plain paper, which will give the product strength and stability. Finally, the entire structure is covered with colored paper, decorated with buttons or rhinestones, after which a mattress and linen are placed in it.

Furniture made from wooden panels

Universal and environmentally friendly, as well as high-strength material, the crib from which will be of good quality and durable. To the previously listed tools you will need to add a drill, sandpaper, and jigsaw. The procedure is as follows:

1. All models are transferred to wood and then cut out with a jigsaw. A drill is needed to make holes, if necessary.
2. The finished elements are checked for compliance with all sizes, and then carefully rubbed with sandpaper until completely smooth.
3. The places of future fastenings are marked with a pencil, the entire structure is folded and fixed with self-tapping screws.

Finally, the finished crib is varnished and left to dry completely, after which bedding is placed in it. Particularly successful will be the use of varnish that reveals the structure of the wood - such furniture looks incomparable.

Foam products

Cheap and cheerful. For the crib you will need a piece of foam rubber used to make the base and fabric with which we then wrap it. The material can be given any shape as desired, after which you need to make a colorful blanket, pillows and place the crib against the wall with a rug - so it will seem that it has a back.

Bed made of polystyrene and toothpicks

To make it you will need a piece of polystyrene foam, toothpicks and a piece of fabric. The process looks like this:

• We cut out a piece of polystyrene according to the size of the future crib, which we wrap in fabric.
• If desired, you can put a thin layer of synthetic padding on top, which we fix with a needle and thread, which creates the shape of a real mattress in miniature.
• For the frame we take foam plastic, cardboard and toothpicks. We cut out the cardboard parts and fasten them into a single structure, along the edges of which we attach toothpicks, which act as legs. They can be decorated with various curls and tips, which also applies to the back, onto the surface of which patterns can easily be applied with a stencil and glue.

Finally, the entire structure should be painted or varnished and left to dry completely.

Assembling the paper structure

Not the most durable furniture, but quite suitable for decorating a dollhouse. To make it you will need thick paper with album sheets, tape, ribbons and thin wire.First, the elements of the future bed are cut out of paper in accordance with the diagram, which are duplicated with durable paper for rigidity. During the gluing process, we place a thin wire between the paper layers, which will hold the entire structure and prevent it from falling apart. All elements are carefully attached to each other and left until the glue dries completely.

Let's put school rulers to use

School rulers are good because they are the same width, and they are pre-processed. Depending on the size of the future crib, you can choose rulers of different widths. The process is very simple - first of all, fragments of the required length are cut off (for the back and bottom), on which the attachment points are marked. Glue is applied to all joints, which should dry slightly, and then we connect the elements with force, tighten them with masking tape and wait for the structure to dry. Finally, the crib is painted and bedding is placed in it.

Other materials

An unusual material for the bed are popsicle sticks, of which you will need 18 pieces. The crib is made quickly and for this you need:

1. Wash the sticks and degrease them with alcohol or strong alcohol, then lay them out on paper towels until completely dry.
2. Cut 1 stick in half, then attach 5 more sticks to each half just below the middle.
3. Connect the resulting structures with two sticks, and lay out the rest on the base of the crib.

The furniture is decorated, decorated and after complete drying, a mattress and linen are placed on it.
