- cutting block;
- sheet of plywood.
From this material you can create a bed of any design. If you have welding skills, you can make it from a metal body. But you will need a certain tool:
- Hacksaw or circular machine.
- Stationery set (paper, pencil, eraser, etc.).
- Plane.
- Sanding machine or sandpaper.
- Screwdriver or electric drill.
- Self-tapping screws and bolts with nuts.
- Furniture glue or epoxy.
- Varnish, stain, etc.
Construction and design options: drawings and diagrams
Models of children's bedrooms are so diverse that the list of them can be endless. These can be designs with a folding ladder, with a ladder and built-in drawers, with pull-out tiers, etc.
You can sit for a long time in front of a sheet of paper and plan a drawing of your future bed, or you can search the Internet or choose one of the options presented below. This will reduce thinking time and speed up the assembly process, since below there will be a description of the assembly in detail.
The simplest variation of a bunk bed. The problem with this model is the age limit for children, with a simple ladder attached to the side. Not every child will be able to easily climb it to the second tier.
A more comfortable option, with a ladder and drawers. It is suitable for children from 4 years old. The child can easily climb into the bed and not be afraid of falling, and the built-in drawers will save space in the room.
If you have a 1-room apartment or studio-type living space, you can design a model of a 3-bedroom bunk bed for children. At the same time, based on both the age of the child and the square footage of housing. This can be a bed with an ordinary ladder or, as in the previous version, drawers for linen are built into the ladder.
Is the children's room too small to accommodate a child's bed and desk? It's not a problem. A model with a child’s sleeping place on the upper tier will allow you to fit everything you need in the child’s room. Including a wardrobe and it will not take up more space than a regular bed.
An analogue of the above model is the “Transformer” design, which also includes drawers for textbooks and a work desk.
Living in small squares forces people to make compromises and invent new bed designs. This model is intended for large families with small living space; the design can be modernized for any occasion. A 4-bedroom two-tier bed will become an indispensable piece of furniture in your home.

How to assemble a bunk bed: step by step instructions
In this article we will analyze the assembly of a simple bunk bed with an extension ladder. You can find the drawing and assembly diagram in this article above.
First, let's prepare the parts according to the drawing, we will need:
- Beam 5 cm*5 cm.
- Floor or edged block 30*cm*30mm or 30cm*50mm
- Plywood sheet (dimensions according to drawings).
Let's make a base for laying the mattress. We measure the width and length of the mattress (if there is one) and cut the boards to size. We fasten them together using a tenon joint and glue.
IMPORTANT! All parts must be sanded along the edges with a machine or plane and sandpaper. To avoid sharp corners and injuries to the child.
Next, a beam is attached to the inside of the frame for further installation of the mattress support. The support will be made of timber and a sheet of plywood will be attached to it. For the second tier it is necessary to make a second, identical box.
Next, we position the structure so that both boxes lie on their sides. The distance between them should be the same as their location when fully assembled. We attach the bars to the bases using bolts (screws will not work in this case), having previously drilled holes at the connection points. After securing all 4 bars, it is necessary to install a transverse tie from a beam or block, we place it between the first and second tiers in the legs and head. So that when loaded, the bars do not bend or break. Next, we raise our bed and attach the ladder and side support.
