Is it possible to return the sofa

sofaDespite the variety of assortments, it can be quite difficult to choose a sofa that will ideally fit into the interior in terms of size, design, and color scheme. Often a product that you liked in the store looks different at home and, instead of joy, brings disappointment. To return purchased furniture, you need to know the rules by which goods are returned.

In what cases can you return a sofa to the store?

return of the sofaThis issue is regulated by the Federal Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights”. The method of solving it depends on the reasons why the buyer intends to return the item to the seller:

  • the quality does not match, there are defects;
  • The product is of high quality, but is not satisfactory according to any criteria (dimensions, color, design).

Note: when choosing a sofa, consider the width of the doorways so that the purchased furniture can fit through the doors.

The buyer has the right to return if there are defects identified upon receipt or during the warranty period, the minimum period of which in accordance with Art. 5 Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights” is 12 months and can be extended to three years at the request of the manufacturer.

Law on Consumer ProtectionIn the case of a quality product, a return can be made based on Art. 25 of the said law.According to this provision, within two weeks after purchase, the consumer has the right to exchange the product for a similar product without giving reasons, if it has not been used, is in a marketable condition, and a document confirming payment has been saved.

If the desired product is not on sale on the day of contact, the client has the right to return the purchased furniture and receive the money paid for it within three days, or, by agreement of the parties, wait until the desired product appears in the warehouse.

If the sofa was purchased remotely, for example, in an online store, then you can return it within 7 days from the delivery date (Article 26.1) and within 10 days you will receive the money spent minus transportation costs. True, not everything is so simple, because there is a list of exceptions to these rules.

In what cases can the buyer not return the sofa?

  1. Sofas purchased as part of a furniture set or set, as they are complex technical products and cannot be returned. If it was purchased as a separate unit, it is returned according to existing rules.
  2. Products made to order, since they were produced according to individual parameters under a service agreement and under Art. 25 don't hit.

Please note: when purchasing furniture made of genuine leather, you should take into account that for such materials a slight deviation from the sample in texture and color may be allowed, which is not a basis for a return.

  • This is a single item and not part of a set;
  • the acquisition time did not exceed 14 days;
  • there is a payment receipt;
  • the presentation and properties are not damaged.

If these conditions exist, you can contact the store and write an application for an exchange of the sofa or a refund.
