Transformation — the completed process of converting a sofa into a sleeping place. It is assessed by the final result and depends on the type of mechanism.

There are the following main types of transformation:

• Book. This look was present in almost every Soviet sofa. The furniture in this case has two positions: a sitting position and a sleeping position (bed). The advantages include the fact that usually the bottom is not involved in mechanical processes, which allows you to place various sleeping accessories. And also sometimes a gap is left between the wall and the top of the mattress to be able to expand the sofa. This type of transformation is characterized by reliability and unpretentiousness of parts;
• Click Clack (Tango). A very similar type of transformation to a “book”, with one difference: the upper mattress can be adjusted to the angle you need. Otherwise, it is the same “book”, with its advantages and disadvantages, with its ability to store bed linen in the bottom. Parts for transformation have a more complex design due to the presence of an angle lock;
• Accordion. This type received its name due to its external similarity with the musical instrument of the same name, the accordion. In the upper mattress there is a foldable division into two parts, and in the lower one there is the ability to move forward, thus creating a collapsible bed. The “accordion” will require more space for transformation, which can also be considered a disadvantage. Bed linen can be placed in a special box, which can occupy exactly half the bottom, which, of course, is a positive side of the design;
• Dolphin. How does a corner sofa unfold? Due to its design feature, “Dolphin” is one of the most popular transformation mechanisms for corner sofas; it allows you not to use the upper mattress. There is an additional mattress in the bottom, which slides out from the bottom to the top, forming a solid place to sleep.The disadvantages include the complete impossibility of using the bottom for your own purposes (except in an open state, but this is rare and impractical) and some complexity in the mechanism for leveling mattresses. This is compensated by the ease of use and the pleasant appearance of the folding process itself;
• Eurobook and others. The “Eurobook” also has two positions (“sleep” and “sofa”), akin to a regular “book”. Only the transformation process itself differs: the lower mattress rolls forward on rollers, forming a place for the upper mattress, which simply falls into the resulting space. As in the “book”, the bottom is again available to you for using it for personal purposes. You will also need space in front of the sofa to be able to unfold it, but the model can be pressed tightly against the wall - this will not complicate its transformation.

Which folding mechanism is the most convenient?

The most convenient transformation mechanism is a mechanism that allows you to get the fastest possible result, without complex manipulations.
