What does aster material consist of?
Astra is 100% polyester, a special type of fabric made entirely from polyester synthetic fibers. Upholstery fabrics made from it are very light, wear-resistant, quick-drying, breathable, and hold their shape well. They are resistant to heat and light, that is, over years of use, upholstered furniture will not fade, but will retain its original color.
How the material for astra sofas is made
The process of making base fabric for aster occurs as follows:
- First, polyester is produced by refining oil;
- using chemical processes, polystyrene and later polyester are isolated from hydrocarbons;
- Fibers are made from the resulting material by heating and cooling it;
- the fibers are pulled out, creating the required density and strength of the threads, from which the fabric will be woven later by weaving.
Astra is made using five threads: two threads form the bottom layer (base), two - the surface, and the last one is needed to form the pile. Loop pile technology is used here. The fibers are pulled out from the weft or warp threads using a napping machine. Due to the fact that the loops are not subsequently cut, a so-called air cushion is created on the fabric, preventing the penetration of moisture and dirt.
Rules for caring for material for astra sofas
Astra upholstery material is very easy to care for, due to the use of fibers that have antistatic properties.
- To remove everyday dirt, cleaning with a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush is sufficient. But this must be done regularly, otherwise dust will accumulate in the loops of the fabric, forming stubborn stains.
- If you need to remove a large stain, use a neutral foaming agent. Apply foam with a sponge to the surface of the stain, and after a while rinse the area with water. Then air dry, excluding exposure to sunlight.
ATTENTION!
When cleaning aster material, the use of chlorine-containing cleaning agents is not allowed.
Sofa cushions can be washed in a washing machine at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, using the “Delicate Wash” mode. There is no need to squeeze them out, just let the water drain and then air dry everything away from direct sunlight, radiators and other heating devices.
If creases form on the fabric, you can iron these places from the wrong side through white cotton fabric, at an iron heating temperature of no more than 110 °C.
