Chandeliers and lamps in the design of apartments and commercial premises

The overall perception of the room’s design depends on how well the lighting is organized. A chandelier can become an accent detail, emphasize the chosen design style, solve optical problems and visually expand the space.

When purchasing a lamp, it is very important to take into account the characteristics of the room, and specifically the interior design.

Chandelier

Chandeliers and lamps depending on the interior of the house

When choosing lighting fixtures, it is very important to take into account the design of the entire room, so that individual elements do not create dissonance and fit harmoniously into the atmosphere. For example, chandeliers designed for baroque will look completely ridiculous in neoclassical or grunge. Conversely, lamps that fit perfectly into a loft will absolutely not suit a room decorated in the style of romanticism.

Classic

Classic interior design trends include:

  • Baroque and Rococo;
  • modern;
  • Gothic;
  • English;
  • Venetian and Versailles;
  • Greek;
  • classicism and neoclassicism;
  • art deco and art nouveau;
  • romanticism.

The main features are symmetry, adherence to the canons of composition, expensive finishing materials, sophisticated form, subtle romantic notes, luxurious lighting fixtures. It is the last detail that often receives the most attention.These are elegant and sophisticated chandeliers, often multi-tiered, with a large number of lampshades and additional decorative elements. Such lighting fixtures immediately attract attention - they are considered an accent detail in the interior, and therefore must have symmetrical shapes, straight, clear lines, and harmonious proportions. As a rule, they are made of glass or crystal - expensive and massive products.

Ethnic

Ethnic styles do not have common features, since they reflect the national characteristics of the interiors of many countries. It follows from this that different lighting devices are chosen for these areas:

  • boho and country - colored chandeliers with fringe and pendants or forged pendant options in the spirit of the Middle Ages;
  • Japanese, Chinese - strict geometric shapes, sophisticated, fashionable and expressive lighting fixtures;
  • chalets - many wooden or forged products are suitable, in the shape of a wheel, with an aging effect, lantern type or hanging on chains;
  • all types of oriental styles - choose a harmonious combination of minimalism and luxury;
  • Provence - the chandeliers are dominated by the simplicity and flavor of France, smooth lines, beautiful decor, vintage elements;
  • rustic - the features of chandeliers in this style are simplicity and roughness, allowing for a slight deviation from the standard (in the interior, illumination of the living space with spotlights is allowed);
  • Scandinavian, hygge - the design model of the lighting fixture should be made in a restrained style, excessive decor is not welcome, there are ceiling or hanging options.

Modern

These include: grunge, minimalism, neoclassical, hi-tech, modern, avant-garde, bionics, vintage, contemporary, lounge, loft, steampunk, shabby chic, eclectic, eco-style. A chandelier is considered an important design element. It usually has a strictly defined shape, but it can be characterized by an infinite number of types thanks to decorative elements.

There are a lot of design options - ceiling, suspended, rope, modular.

In some styles (for example, high-tech, loft, modern), the ideal solution would be a combination of several types of lighting fixtures. In this case, the main lamp is complemented by spotlights located along the edge of the stretch ceiling (can be built-in, overhead, or suspended). You can also use an LED strip - it will add accents to the interior and delimit the space.

Commercial premises

Everything is a little simpler here. What needs to be taken into account here is not design, but functionality. Various lamps are used, and each type solves a specific problem:

  1. Linear - universal in terms of application. There are built-in ceiling or wall surfaces, overhead and suspended linear profiles.
  2. Downlights are the most popular type of lighting due to their compact size, easy installation, wide range of luminous fluxes and minimal power consumption. Used in retail, office and administrative buildings, conference rooms, halls, foyers, corridors, etc.
  3. Trunk - provide uniform general illumination in large areas, high-quality color rendering, and the absence of glare or shadowed areas in the field of view of staff and visitors.
  4. Track - allow you to create a universal and flexible lighting installation that can be adapted to the specifics of a particular object.
  5. Cardan and accent - they allow you to highlight a product from the crowd, draw attention to its features, emphasize the advantages of the product, and convince the visitor of the need to make a purchase.
  6. Spot - the technical solution has a number of advantages that allow the use of lamps for lighting offices, shopping centers, municipal facilities, hotels, restaurants and even educational institutions.
