How to connect a chandelier to a single-key switch
If the wiring in the house is done wisely, there should not be any special problems with connecting the chandelier. Moreover, if we are talking about single-key switches, there is nothing to get confused about. There are two wires coming from such a switch, and most single-arm chandeliers have the same number. The only exceptions are those that have separate grounding and lamps with multiple horns. In this case, a whole bunch of wires can go from the lamp to the terminal.

Safety precautions when working
The first rule is There is no need to carry out installation work while the power is on. Before starting work, it is necessary to turn off the corresponding toggle switch on the panel. If someone might accidentally turn it on, post a sign with the following content: “Don’t turn it on, people are working!”.
Secondly, you need to make sure, using a probe screwdriver, that the switch is connected phase, not zero. What is the difference? If a zero is supplied instead of a phase, the switch will perform its functions, but power from the chandelier is not removed when the light is turned off. The result is possible electric shock.
Therefore, it is better not to count on the integrity of those who carried out the wiring in the room - trust, but check. Modern generally accepted marking of wires is usually as follows:
- brown – phase;
- blue – zero;
- yellow with a green stripe – grounding (it is not always present and not everywhere, but, as a rule, in newly built houses).
Connecting a single-arm chandelier
It’s really difficult to confuse something here. If there are two wires from the switch, and three from the chandelier, then one of them must be used as ground. Based on the marking, we determine which one it is and simply isolate or remove it, since it will not be used.
The remaining two wires are connected using terminals It is not advisable to do twists, they are not so reliable.
After connection, the power on the panel is turned on and the functionality of the connected chandelier is checked. All you have to do is flip a switch.
Connecting a chandelier with several arms
The process is not too different from that described above with a single-arm chandelier, except for one nuance. Produced here parallel connection of several horns to one switch – when you press it, they will all turn on at the same time.
We proceed with the grounding wire in the same way as described above. And we combine the remaining groups into bundles and connect them through terminals to the wires coming from the switch. To correctly arrange the wires into groups, pay attention to the color of their insulation.
The use of a single-key switch eliminates the possibility of using the chandelier arms separately and arranging them in separate groups, regardless of their number. They will all work simultaneously.
